friends of bocce When you get your schedules, you'll notice a big change. We're going to try a split schedule this fall. We'll be continuing the summer hours for the first five weeks, that is, 5, 6, 7, and 8 pm. On the sixth week the schedule will move to the usual fall/spring times, 3, 4, 5, and 6 pm. This is, obviously, our attempt to better deal with the temperatures in September and early October. Depending on how well this works, we may do the same thing in reverse in the spring. This is NOT going to be as confusing as you may now be thinking! The schedule will be simple to follow. If you're new to bocce ball, come out to the courts and check it out. The courts are on the north side, across from the North Clubhouse. We play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If you would like to join a team, call Dutch at 845-0392. She may be able to help you out. Courts are at the Main Clubhouse, next to the Pro Shop. Pickleball hours are Monday thru Saturday, 8:30 am and Monday evening at 5 pm. Paddle Tennis hours are Thursday and Friday at 8 am and Tuesday and Thursday evening at 5 pm. No Black Soled shoes allowed on courts. Haven't played since you were a kid? Doesn't matter… we have players of all skill levels. We play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 - 6 pm, and Sat., 10 am - 12 noon on the wood floor of the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (normally). We play under the Recreation Department, so see the Events Board across from the Main Clubhouse Reception Desk for more information. Our new Sun Lakes 8-Ball Group completed its first season at the end of September. A new 11-week season will begin Oct. 4. Our teams compete every Thursday at Noon in our Main Clubhouse Billiards Room. If you're interested in joining a team, now is the time to do it! Members who join a team after the 5th week of a season are not eligible for any awards or playoffs for which their team may qualify. All Sun Lakes residents, whether on a team or not, are welcome to join our practice sessions Mondays thru Fridays (except Wednesday, which is Ladies Day). There is no cost to practice with us. However, if you join a team, costs are $10 per season. New teams are formed each season.
