crusin' cronies Come out and join us! You can have fun even if you don't have a sporty, hot rodded, or antique car. Some of us don't have a favorite car right now because we have sold ours, or are in the market for a new favorite. New outings are being planned for every month. We will meet in the Main Clubhouse parking lot at 8:30 am on Sat., Oct. 6. We'll have our meeting at 9 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room and then get together for breakfast in the restaurant. At our October meeting, we'll be making final arrangements for our Poker Run the next day. (No money will change hands.) We will start at the Main Clubhouse at 8 am, and end at Brasswell's Car Museum at 12 noon. Be at the meeting on Saturday to get all the details or be sure you're ready to leave the Clubhouse Parking Lot on Oct. 7, at 8:30 am. We will have a no host, bring your own picnic at Braswells. There are no group membership fees and all Sun Lakers are welcome. He had added it to his impressive collection about 1975 and had it restored back to original. Dell expressed his desire to own it someday as soon as his uncle showed it to him. The car is restored to original and drives well. It has been in many local parades and car shows in California and Oregon and has carried queens of such cities as San Bernardino, Grand Terrace and Colton. While it's not a "show stopper" or trophy winner, it has been driven and maintained regularly. Even though they are part-time winter residents, Dell and Melinda plan to bring it to Sun Lakes to enjoy with neighbors and friends and actively participate in the activities of the Cruisin' Cronies of Sun Lakes. The Model A is just one of many cars they have collected over the years, preferring to have their vehicles drivable and as close of original as possible. They are partial to antiques and over the years they have owned a 1928 Whippet, 1928 Packard Roadster and 1935 Chevrolet. In addition, they have also owned newer classics including a 1956 Nash Metropolitan convertible, a 1963 Ford Falcon convertible, a 1964 El Camino, a 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and a 1958 Buick Super Riviera. Several of these now belong to each of their children, who continue to have an interest in showing and parading with their own families. Their grand-daughter has her name on the Model A. Of all the vehicles they have owned over the years, the Model A is their favorite. 24 | october 2012 | social clubs & groups
