SPORTS & ACTIVITIES The 8-Ball Club At our September meeting, the subject of Billiards chairs was discussed. The chairs in the Billiards Room although acquired by the 8-Ball Club belong to the community and it would behoove all who use the Billiards Room to protect this asset. The chairs were designed with 600-800 lbs weight bearing capability, but the foot rests were not to be used as steps. They are coming loose as a result of misuse. Several have been repaired under warranty and the rest of them will be modified to improve the design. Thank you to our president Del Lyles for taking his own time and vehicle to transport the chairs back and forth for these repairs. With proper use, this should solve the problem but we all must be diligent to stop others from mistreating any HOA equipment, including the chairs. Please report any misuse to the Front Desk if you observe it happening. To prevent spills it was requested that larger cups not be forced into the cup holders on the chairs. The walls along the side of the window frames are becoming stained by chalk when cue sticks are leaned there. When not in use, please store the cues properly and don't lean them against the wall. Last month's in-house 8-Ball Tournament was won by Roland Harrah and the in-house 9-Ball tournament was won by Kenny Payne. Congratulations to both of our winners! Club meetings are held the first Wednesday, in-house 8-Ball Tournaments are the second Wednesday and the 9-Ball in-house tournaments on the third Saturday of each month. Most travelling tournaments are scheduled for Monday evenings; check the bulletin in the Billiards Room for exact date and location. As a service to the community, immediately after monthly club meetings, all the billiards balls are cleaned by club members with the manufacturer supplied chemicals and towels. The team practices are non-tournament Mondays plus every Wednesday and Friday at 7 pm.
