2017 is fast approaching its end and we still have some great events for all our members to enjoy. But first, the YAH Board would like to give a big thank-you to Bob Cain for the excellent job he did arranging the Duffy Boat event in July. 45 members enjoyed cruising around Newport Bay followed by a steak dinner at the Elks Club. Good job Bob! Another BIG MAHALO (that's thank you in Hawaiian) to Theresa Van Haren and her helpers (Jeff Van Haren, Michelle and Pat Carter, Shannon & Dennis McKinney and Linda Jennings) for a super fun Luau in August. The food, games and music were over the top. Thank you all for your great work. Speaking of events, we are looking for ideas for a November event. The person or persons coming up with an idea for November can win a $25 gift certificate plus free membership for 2018. This can be an on-site event or a day trip. All ideas will be considered. Email your suggestions to Michele Walter at crystalwater@dc.rr.com. Deadline for submission is Sept. 30 2017. Sept. 24: KILLER DUELING PIANOS: If you haven't already submitted your checks for this event, don't delay! Get your friends and relatives together and sign up for this Vegas style show being held in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom from 4 to 7 pm. Appealing to all ages, The Killer Dueling Pianos will have you clapping, singing, and laughing with their special brand of entertainment. This event will be open to all Sun Lakes residents and their guests. There will be table seating in the round and appetizers available for purchase. Cost is $17.50 pp. Submit your checks (payable to YAH) together and drop them of at 6253 Ponte Verde Circle. Sandy Richman is the contact person for this event: 769-7595. Oct. 21: SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN PARTY: This event is destined to be a cauldron full of fun. The ghoulish fun will begin at 5:30 pm at the South Clubhouse. The menu for dinner will include "Slimy worms in Bloody Sauce," "Ghoul's eyeballs," "Mildew Moss with Rancid Oily Water" and many more tasty morsels. Music for dancing and "Walking Dead" moves will be provided by Gayle Medley. Cost for everything is $15 pp. BYOB and glasses. Come in costume or not. There will be prizes for costumes that are most scary, most original, most funny and most beautiful. Checks payable to YAH can be mailed or dropped off at 2496 Wailea Beach. Barbra Searcy and Donna Harrington are our contact persons for this event. NOVEMBER: We're anxiously awaiting your ideas for an event. DEC. 31: NEW YEARS EVE GALA: Sandy Alexanian, Jerry and Marilyn Woodard are already making plans for this most popular event. Crimson Crow will be providing music for the night. "TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME, TAKE ME OUT WITH THE CROWD!" Wow, what about those Dodgers? Yes, it's been a great season for the home team and we want to get into the spirit. We're serving roast beef, turkey and ham croissant sandwiches, potato salad, fruit salad, vegetable platters and a super dessert. Audacity, that wonderful trio, will be singing their hearts out. Doesn't get any better than that! If you live in Sun Lakes you may come as a guest one time only, and then you WILL WANT to join the club. Yearly membership is $15. If you join between July 1 and Dec. 31, the membership will be $7.50.
