| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2017 | 33 Paisano Club "There's an end to the path to God; but not an end to the path in God." ~ Sufi Saying It is common among spiritual seekers to have a profound First Awakening followed by many additional awakenings. Brahmananda even went so far as to say that after that first awakening, then the path begins. The closest description of my experience is the Sufi saying. Once that initial dropping of a massive part of the ego sense has happened then comes a great love of God and the desire to drop any misidentification with ego which interferes with that love. The search for God stops and the love of abiding in that wonderful mysterious Universal Mystery we call God takes over. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min. if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the teaching of Non-Duality. As always, questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multiurpose Room (next to the Library) on Sundays from 11:30 am to 1 pm. This is a FREE offering. My background includes 29 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and eight years of teaching (six at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an open mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at gina-sat@msn.com or 846-1220 if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth As our summer comes to a close, we hope you have enjoyed any traveling you have done. If you are traveling in your RV please take care. Our next rally is tentatively Oct. 29 to Nov. 3 in Pahrump, Nevada. We will have our annual pizza party on Oct. 18 in the South Clubhouse. Also, we will be having elections for new officers then. Club members should have received information about the election. If not, please contact the John or Peggy now. If you have a recreational vehicle and like to enjoy the company of good friends and fun times in some beautiful settings, this is the club for you. We offer planned activities at each of our rallies, or the chance to explore on your own. Activities may include golf, bocce, bean bag baseball or others. There are planned meals to get together with your fellow RV club members. It is a great group of people. If you are interested in joining our club or attending a rally as a guest to learn about us, please contact John and Peggy at 845-8295, or peggasus28@dc.rr.com. RV Club Our August "Greek Night," complete with a lovely belly dancer, was hilarious. The Greek food was great and the Grecian ambiance provided by the wonderful decorating committee made you feel like you had taken an adventurous trip. Mark your calenders: Sept. 1- Western Night: Entertainment will be provided by Tony Lopez, known for his country, 50s, 60s and Spanish music. A Chuck Wagon dinner will be provided by Thomas Catering. Wear your best hoe down, barn dance duds. Oct. 6- Oktoberfest: Entertainment will be Richard Lee providing comedy, music and magic. Expect a mouth watering German buffet. Nov. 3: Thanksgiving Buffet and a really fun game of Derby Night Horse Racing. Important note to members: At our October meeting, we are asking you to bring non-perishable food items for the food drive. Items go to the seniors in Banning who have limited income. Let's show them what a caring and giving club we are. A big thank you to our wonderful membership who faithfully attend all our parties. Our board is small in number, but we all work well together to try to give you a fun evening once a month. A big applause to our president, Clark Robinson, for bravely keeping all us women organized and welcoming all our members at our functions every month. Reservations have to be made by the Friday before the event. Checks can be dropped off at 610 Torrey Pines Road. We reach our capacity of 105 pretty quickly, so get your reservations in early.
