52 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2017 | Men's Golf A&D GOLF CARTS C U S T O M GOLF CARTS We welcome trade-ins & buy used golf carts Sales & service Free local pick-up & delivery We appreciate your business! 451 W. 6th St., Beaumont • Major credit cards accepted 951 306-7628 951 306-7627 Now open on Saturday! 8 am - 1 pm M-F 8 am - 4 pm First, I want to thank all who responded for helping to keep our course in great shape. Although some of you still refuse to fix divots and rake bunkers, I believe I have seen a big improvement. Hopefully we can convince those that still ignore these common courtesies to change their ways, and become part of the solution instead of being part of the problem. Secondly, I want to thank all of you who have donated clubs, bags, and other things to the new high school program we are starting at the high school. The response has been truly inspiring. We are still looking for volunteer mentors (both men and women) to work with the kids when they are here practicing. So far only one person has come forward to offer their help. Think about it and give me a call if you are interested in mentoring. Announcement: We have had two Hotdog/Beer events and it appears the membership is very receptive to the idea. As a result, we are going to continue this for the rest of the summer. On the second Wednesday in September we will be having a hot dog/beer (soda/tea) offering after our shotgun. The cost will be $5. No cash is necessary, we will bill your account. Plan on joining us on the Veranda after golf, have a sandwich and drink, and mingle with your fellow members. This brings up a point: When signing up for the shotgun all players in your group must be listed. Do not list one player and draw a line through the rest of the grouping indicating you will have a group. When we offer food (like on the second Wednesday of the month) please mark the proper column indicating if you are participating or not. We need to know how many are going to participate so we can tell the kitchen how many to prepare for. In addition, if you have any special request, for example, two groups playing back to back, let the pro shop know this in advance. We will do our best to accommodate you (no guarantee). Don't be rude and obnoxious like one individual at our last shotgun who said nothing in advance, but insisted we accommodate his special request. This was particularly annoying since he is not even a member of our club, but participating in our club sponsored event. Finally, we will soon be having Men's Club elections to our Board. This year there are three spots whose terms are expiring. Mike Dowd and Bill Nevins have taken on the leadership of the Nomination Committee. If you are interested in running for one of the open positions contact one of them and let them know. Executive Men's Golf Our next tournament on Fri., Sept. 15 is a 4-Man Scramble format. We will have a pairings party on the Main Clubhouse Veranda the night before the tournament on Thurs., Sept. 14 at 5 pm. So come and buy a drink, enjoy a slice of pizza provided by the EMGC, and try to pick the winning team. All members are invited to attend even if you are not playing. All Sun Lakes male golfers are encouraged to come out on Friday morning at 8:30 am to the North Clubhouse for a 9 am tee time. We play every Friday on the Executive Course with monthly tournaments on the third Friday of the month. Tournament winners have $ credited to their accounts which can be used for purchases in the Pro Shop or Restaurant/Lounge. Every week you can enter to win $ for closest to the pin. We are open to any male Sun Lakes resident interested in golf fun and camaraderie. Member sign up forms are available in the NCH Pro Shop or EMGC website. If you have any questions our Membership Chairman, Fred Richman, can be reached at 769-7595. So come out and join us. We would like to have you as a member.
