60 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2017 The days of sharing the paddle tennis courts as seen in the photo are coming to an end. We are thrilled that there is light at the end of the tunnel and our dream of having our own pickleball area is getting closer. Gone will be the days of double nets and multiple lines. Recently, we had 21 players arrive early, 7 am, at the courts so as much playing could get done before the heat really became an issue. The new courts will eliminate so many players waiting to play a game and, playing a modified point system to nine points instead of regulation 11 points. If you are interested in learning more about the popular sport of pickleball, new players are encouraged to come out on Thursday evening at 6 pm and start learning pickleball skills with Jeromee Liebenberg. Please bring lots of water, as hydration is a must with the Beaumont heat. To prevent injury, court shoes are highly recommended. Please be sure to give your name, phone number, and email information to Jeromee so that you can be added to our roster and be kept informed of pickleball news. If you have further questions, please contact Nancy Barnaby at rbarnaby38@verizon.net or (951) 845-0842. Happy pickling! ~ Irma Peterson Pickleball Players are Perry White, Julie Stayner, Marty Key and Nancy Barnaby Tennis Club We played tennis. It was a Play Day. Play, play, play. Many people played tennis. New member Daniel played. Daniel is good. Good, good, good. We had lunch. It was good. Eat, eat, eat. On Labor Day, we played tennis. No work, no work, no work. New members Emilio and Phil played. Played, played, played. We waited, waited, waited. Then we had burgers. We had hot dogs. We had French fries. We had onion rings. We had cupcakes. Eat, eat, eat. Dick and Jane did not eat. They are not real. Spot did not eat. Spot would be 455 dog-years old. Spot could not eat. The Tennis Club's Annual Meeting and dinner is scheduled for Oct. 17 at the Lodge. Watch for the emails with the details. The meeting is the beginning of the 2018 membership year and includes election for the committee members. All five committee spots are open, so please consider running for a position and providing your leadership and service to The Tennis Club. Run, run, run. Serve, serve, serve. One committee member gets to write the Breeze articles, including ones that have paragraphs like the at left. So, surely you can do it. Write, write, write. Barbara Miller is continuing to coordinate doubles play on the second and third Thursday of each month. Matches are scheduled for 6 and 7 pm. The weather is becoming more comfortable, so contact her to get in some fun games. They play 12 no-ad games, so the sets move along quickly. The monthly Play Days are scheduled for the last Saturday of each month, beginning at 8:30 am at The Courts. With all four courts available, there is very little waiting to get in to a match. Come on out ~ Steve Hovey Labor Day Burger Rally
