6 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2017 | As I am sitting here at my desk, thinking about what to write, my mind keeps wandering to vacation. I leave tomorrow morning at O' dark-hundred, heading to Wyoming where the mountains and rivers, the big blue sky, the huge white clouds, the thunderstorms and the 40 degree nights — all speak to my soul and renew my spirit. I can't wait to get out into the Salt river in my waders with my new "Orvis" fly rod and catch some Cutthroat or Brown trout, maybe even a Cutbow (a highbred of Rainbow and Cutthroat trout). Maybe this year I will catch the BIG one. If I do, you can bet you will all hear about it! Thinking of this makes me wonder—what do you do to "renew"? I know many of you have taken some great trips this summer to amazing places—maybe a cruise to an exotic place or a European vacation to some romantic location. Where did you go and what did you do? I have an assignment for all of you—send me a picture of you in your "happy place" or your favorite vacation spot or your most thrilling adventure. Preferably, this will be a recent picture taken in the last six months or so. Caption your picture with your name and the location. In November, we will have picture story pages for all to enjoy. Now, for October, there are several very interesting events planned for you. All of these events have additional information in this magazine. Sat., Oct. 7: The Emergency Preparedness Committee is putting on a "Safety Faire" with lots of very important information you will need to survive a disaster. Just look at Houston, TX last month. We never know when the next BIG one will hit us and we need to be prepared. This event is FREE and guests are welcome. Oct. 19 is the Ladies Luncheon themed "50 Shades of Fall." This is a very popular, must-not-miss event with lunch, live saxophone music, and a fashion show. This event is $20 per person and for residents only. Oct. 28 is the "Fall Marketplace." We have 50+ booths registered for the event. Francisco will be cooking outside with the omelet bar in the morning and hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch. There will be a drink booth with many of your favorites, as well as live music all day. Many of our clubs and committees will have booths with information about what they do and how to join if you are interested. This event will be a mix of crafts, art, swap meet items, commercial vendors and much more. Come join in the fun! This event is FREE and guests are welcome, but bring your wallet for all the things you want to buy, plus food and drink! Oct. 31, Halloween: There will be Music on the Plaza with Sundance Band playing country and oldies rock. There will be a costume contest as well – so get your costumes ready, and come have some fun with your friends and good music. This event is just $5 per person and guests are welcome! Enjoy the cooler weather (we hope) and mark you calendars… see you around the Lodge A Note From Your Activities Director By Louise Ceccarelli
