Paddle Tennis
This is the first of a series of articles
on Ladies of Paddle Tennis.
Unlike many other sports, Paddle
Tennis has attracted only a handful of
ladies. I believe this is due to playing
with a tennis ball in a small court
where getting hit by a ball is very likely.
This is what our ladies had to say.
"My name is Diana Ali and I used to
be a tennis player as a kid, but now the
game is a bit more challenging, so the
first time I saw Paddle Tennis Played
(here at Four Seasons in February,
2014) I felt it was a sport that I could
do. Even though it looks challenging
and intimidating, I decided to try it.
I wasn't afraid of the ball hitting me,
or much anything else except for the
fact it was mostly being played by men
only, so after I got up the courage to
step up and join in a game, I knew it
was something I would enjoy. Not only
was it fun, but the other players were
patient and encouraging. I wanted to
have some kind of exercise and fun too,
I found it with Paddle Tennis.
"My advice is, don't be afraid of the
game. Especially when you first start the
other players seem to be excited to help
and show you how to play. The scoring
is easy (similar to regular tennis) and
the rules aren't intimidating. The first
time I played I was worried I'd look
like a fool but that didn't happen. As
a matter of fact, when I fumbled and
missed the ball, I got advice on what
I needed to do to be able to hit and
respond to a ball hit to me. It's a fun
sport, its fast, it's challenging and it
builds up your confidence."
I'm so glad I found Paddle Tennis
and happy we have The Courts here at
Four Seasons. I'm also pleased to tell
the other ladies who might be interested
in playing, that it's a good sport.
