50 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2017 | Happy Holidays! December is a wonderful month of celebration and gift giving. Whatever holiday you celebrate, I wish you a happy and peaceful time with good friends and family. For me, it will be a difficult holiday as I will be celebrating my first Christmas without my dad. I am thankful for the times I had with him and my mom. There will be no meeting or support group this month. Instead join us on Thurs., Dec. 21, 12 pm at Johnny Russo's Italian Kitchen for our annual holiday luncheon. You will have a choice of five meals to choose from. All meals are served with salad, garlic bread and a non alcoholic beverage for only $8.99. I hope to see all of you there. Please RSVP by Dec. 15 to Diane 769-0130 or Anne 845-8700 As this year comes to an end, I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers who make this group run so smooth. Without you we could not do what we do. Also thank you to the many talented people who have shared their time and talent with the patient group. 2017 was a great year for our group and I am looking forward to 2018 being even better. There are a few people from our group who have been in the hospital or in rehab for falls and a few who we have lost. Please remember them and their families in you prayers. If you have any questions and would like to learn more about Memory Loss, we have reading material we can loan you. Call Diane, 769-0130 or Anne, 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help. Each month I will list a few facts, a total of 50 when we are done, regarding Alzheimer's disease. These are the 50 Things You Should Know About Alzheimer's disease. Here are the first three. 1. Alzheimer's is a disease that affects a person's brain. 2. Alzheimer's slowly makes it harder to think, learn, remember and make decisions. 3. Alzheimer's has no cure Memory Care Group We meet Dec. 12 at 1 pm in the South Clubhouse for our Holiday Party and meeting. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month. Our summer meetings (July, August, and September) are held only on the third Thursday of these months. The club is for persons of all computer skill levels. Each meeting features various topics and speakers. Handouts are given out for each presentation so you can take notes. This is a great way to share information and learn some of the ways in becoming an effective computer user.
