| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2017 | 7 Have you behaved yourself the last 11 months? If you have been nice to everyone, have held your tongue, made no gestures in anger, no swearing, no comments under your breath, then you made Santa's "good" list! What the designation means, is you must attend your district's Christmas Party. Also, there is the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and a host of parties in the clubhouses. Turn off the television, feel the holiday spirit, mingle with your friends and neighbors and enjoy yourself. Isn't it what we are supposed to do during our retired life? Why are we sitting around moping, looking for something to do when we live in the most active senior community in the United States? It does take a little ingenuity to get off "your rusty dusty" and make a reservation or arrangement to be part of the holiday parties. Your District Delegate and Staff are going all out to arrange a dinner dance, or brunch or a party of some kind for you to enjoy. I hope no one considers the holidays a problem, I hope no one thinks that "damn, I have to get dressed up for the darn party," or "damn, I suppose all of the kids are going to want to come over during the holiday." If you have an attitude, you should go jump in the cold swimming pool and wake up. We should enjoy the holidays with family and friends and neighbors, to have good food, a lot of laughs and a drink or two. I would bet there is one of your friends or neighbors sitting in their living room waiting to be asked to go to a party and enjoy an evening out. You should be the person to ask them to join you. Wouldn't it be great if our parties were all sold out? It is possible, remember, we have 6,000 residents at Sun Lakes, what if they all decided to participate this year! It seems our complex was more decorated last year than prior years. More homes were lighted with Christmas characters and lines of lights. Remember when you were a kid and the houses up and down your blocks were decorated and the whole block shined. Wouldn't it be great if our complex shined more during the holidays — it would only take some of our residents to start the ball rolling, perhaps a lot of folks would follow the lead. How about it, let's try it? Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! ~ From all the District Delegates and Alternate Delegates DELEGATE ASSEMBLY REPORT Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly
