alzheimer's & dementia helpers Our next meeting will be Thurs., Nov. 15, at 10 am, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room, lunch to follow in our Sun Lakes Restaurant. Patients are welcome at this meeting. Drop them off at the Arts & Crafts Room for games and entertainment with our very capable volunteers. Susan Brown returns to entertain. Caregivers attending the meeting will be happy to know Jane Farmer from Desert Hills Memory Care Center in Hemet returns. Jane was scheduled in September but had to be rescheduled for November. Her topic will be Family Dynamics. Jane is well worth the wait. Our care giver support group with Kay Perryman will be Tues., Nov. 13, at 1 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. This group is open to all caregivers, not just caregivers to an Alzheimer's patient. Refreshments are served at this meeting. Come enjoy and discuss care giving issues and whatever is on your mind. Meet other men and women going through the same things as you. This support group is open to all caregivers - no patients. If you have questions or would like to learn Continuing with Alzheimer's Disease and other types of dementia is our last: MILD COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT (MCI) Sometimes a person may have problems with memory or another thinking skill that is serious enough to show up on tests, but not severe enough to interfere with daily life. Some doctors use the term mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to describe this situation. Research has shown that individuals with MCI have an increased risk of progressing to Alzheimer's disease, especially when their main area of difficulty involves memory. But a diagnosis of MCI does not always mean the person will develop Alzheimer's. genealogical society We meet the 4th Wednesday of the month in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. At the meetings, you learn to research your family tree on the internet, in libraries, at the National Archives, and at family history centers. A family tree is a gift to family members that just keeps on giving! Learn to use your computer for photo editing of family pictures, and the internet to easily document your family tree. Learn about the available computer applications used to create family trees. Our knowledgeable guest speakers give you tips and tricks for research, and well as, providing the numerous web sites where you can do your searching. Annual membership is only $15 per family. bible study Our Bible study group is non-denominational. All are welcome. We meet together every week for fellowship and study. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen, or participate in our discussion of the evening's topic. We're all learning together. We'd be delighted if you'd join us. We meet every Wednesday at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. more about Alzheimer's and Dementia disease, we have reading material we can loan you.
