photography group creative writers After nearly a decade as a member of this club, one of my favorite things is still the five minute writing exercise that we have most every time we meet. A subject is chosen at random and then everyone writes something about it with no preparation. It can be fiction, poetry, a memoir or even a history lesson. The results almost never have anything in common but are all interesting and thought provoking. As an example, a few meetings ago, the chosen subject was "the clock." Some writings produced were: a student sees his whole future in doubt if he can't solve the problems before the hour expires; a man wakes up and stares at a clock that has only 11 hours; the photo of a clock on the wall leads to the arrest of a murderer; a teacher recalls her efforts to teach the clock and how to tell time to her first grade class. Come join us every first Monday in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Bring your writing or pen and paper and we will help you learn to write or improve. Info., Roger Smith, 769-2808. woodworkers club We are a group of men and women who work in all phases of woodworking. We get together each month on the second Friday of the month in the Main Clubhouse Arts & Craft Room at 3 pm. The group is open to any and all residents of Sun Lakes. You need not be a current woodworker, you only need the interest in woodworking. If you want to get back into woodworking or if you want to start woodworking. We are the place, come join us. Info., Everett Inman, 845-8609. A tour guide once said: "This is a beautiful place to take pictures with your eyes!" Sure, but can you share them? That's why the Sun Lakes Photography Group is the place for you to both learn and show your favorite shots. We meet the second Monday of each month in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room at 7 pm. This month's meeting is Nov. 12. You can bring prints or digital images on flash drive or CD to project onto the big screen. Everyone, amateur or pro, is welcome; you can ask for critiques of your work or simply show off. The holidays are fast approaching and this month we will be having a tutorial on making your own holiday greeting cards. There is nothing better than creating personal cards no matter what the holiday. Try to limit your photos to five but no one will complain if you bring more. This is a friendly group meeting and there are never dues. Questions? Ask any of our knowledgeable members who can help you with technical or artistic advice.
