Creative Drawing & Sketching Class
Teacher Rob Kelman
This is the perspective of our Artist
of the Month, Micki Rosen.
"I started in Rob Kelman's class over four years ago. I am one
of the students who had no prior drawing experience. He is such a
patient teacher. Over the last four years I have seen him bring out
skills in people I'm sure they never knew they had - that is certainly
the case with me!
He has a system for getting people started that I've seen succeed
repeatedly; every new student draws an elephant. You may think
that's a strange choice but an elephant is the perfect thing to start on
because of its unique shape and texture. The next thing you know,
you're on your way to becoming an artist.
Rob is great about bringing things to the attention of the class to
help us improve our work, including composition, color, light and
shadow, perspective, different media, etc.
Everyone starts with graphite pencils on white paper, but you
should see what the students in my class have graduated to — colored
pencils, pastel pencils, pastel sticks, watercolor pencils, watercolors,
even acrylic paints. I love going to class so I can see how the work of
my fellow students is progressing — they are all so talented!
If you've ever thought that drawing is something you'd like to try,
even if you've never drawn a straight line before, come to Rob's class
he will get you started. It's a great experience that I look forward to
every week."
Classes are FREE. We meet on Monday mornings 10 am to 12 pm
and/or Wednesday nights from 6 to 8 pm. Any questions, call Rob
Kelman (951) 992-9156. ~ Rob Kelman.
