6 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2018 F a r e w e l l d e a r f r i e n d s By Sharon Bond We would like to honor the memory of Sheldon Craig and the contributions he made to Four Seasons since moving here in 2011. Sheldon was a remarkable artist: actor, singer, voice-over artist, director — the list can go on and on. He and his wife Susan Youel, threw themselves into the artistic life of the Four Seasons community as well as into the artistic work being done in the Pass area. He appeared in a number of plays produced by the CAST Players in Beaumont. He and Susan met Joanne LaPointe when they were cast in Lend Me A Tenor for which he and Joanne won the ITL (Inland Theatre League) Award. Also, he and Susan sang with the PASS Chorale in Banning. In 2016 Sheldon narrated an original cantata by Bill Bell based on The Story of the Other Wise Man by Henry Van Dyke. But he was never too busy to be involved in productions here at the Lodge. Sheldon performed You May be a Senior in 2014. He sang with the Four Seasons Singers for the past several years and was involved with all the shows that PAC put on. He had a solo in the Imagine Variety Show in 2016. He was in "What's Your Point?" in the Love and Marriage show. Sheldon also played Harold P. Livingston III (Hal), the villain everyone loved to hate, in the 2014 Murder Mystery Dinner Theater production of The Anniversary. In February of 2017, he and Paula Drake were in the two-character play, Roses in December. Although he wasn't there for the performances, he and Susan oversaw the production, directed some of the acts and Sheldon narrated Way Off Broadway this past October. His last solo was in the Grinch song in the Holiday Show 2017. He played Matt Dillon in the February, 2016 Radio Show. He also played the Lone Ranger in October, 2015. Sheldon played the announcer in several of the episodes. Most recently, he was not only the announcer in the episode Big Town, but he played Archie in Duffy's Tavern. When Susan offered a free class to residents "Singing for Seniors," Sheldon was at every class assisting, demonstrating when called upon, and in general contributing to the overall experience for our residents. He was generous with his time and talent, always willing to coach and advise. He and Susan were the Artistic Directors of the Performing Arts Group. If assisting meant helping with props or with mics – you would see him backstage. Sheldon was always available to help make a production better. A celebration of Sheldon's life is planned for early March. We can't be specific at this point because we don't know when the Ballroom repairs will be finished. An announcement will be on display at the Lodge and it will be mentioned in the Daily Report. Sheldon Craig, Jr. 3/22/50 – 12/28/17
