| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2018 | 17 Architectural Committee All Residents: According to the CC&Rs any changes or work performed on the EXTERIOR part of your property requires approval from the Architectural Review Committee. There has been some confusion on this issue and we hope to clarify what is required. The most common misconception is that if you cannot see it from the common area you do not need ARC approval. This is NOT true. Let's review what this means. 1. The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) is not concerned about kinds of plants, plant replacement, small bushes, pavers, edger's, portable BBQs or portable water fountains within your fenced in rear or side yards. 2. The following are examples of rear or side yard improvements which need approval: Construction projects such as concrete slabs and walks, patio covers, walls (block, retaining, other), fences, air conditioners, swamp coolers, gates, gazebos, trellises, arbors, TV dishes, solar panels, sheds, built in water fountains, spas, permanent barbecues, fire rings, fireplaces, awnings, exterior lighting, flag poles, set back requirements and kitchen style serving islands with or without sinks, refrigerators or BBQ (cookers). Additionally, trees, bushes over five feet high or items attached to a fence require review and approval by the ARC. Bottom line… if you are not sure if your project requires review and approval, ask for an opinion from the ARC management staff representative to the ARC, BEFORE you commence work. Doing so will ensure your project complies with applicable Standards & Regulations and may save you extra time, expense and anxiety. Once every year flush your water heater; Connect your watering hose to the spigot at the bottom of the water heater (run the hose out to the street). Open one HOT water faucet (in laundry room best). Then, using a screwdriver turn the screw on the spigot counter clockwise until the water flows out the hose. If no screw, turn the spigot knob to open the valve (same as you do for outside water faucets). This will flush out the sediments that build up in the bottom and add years to the life of the water heater. Let the water run out for about 10 minutes then turn the screw or knob off and also turn off the faucet in the laundry room.
