FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2018 21 Let's go to the movies! We love hearing those words because movies have been an important part of many of our lives. Some of us may remember going to Saturday matinees at the local theater. A double feature for the admission price of $1. Hard to beat except here at Four Seasons at Beaumont where movies are free. We are lucky enough to have a movie theater in the Lodge. The 22 seats are very comfortable. Movies are played every day at 11 am and 3:30 pm. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, there is an additional evening showing at 6 pm. Seating is first come/first seated and popcorn is available for the 11 am and 3:30 pm showings. New movie schedules are posted every Sunday with both printed flyers in the flyer rack in the Lodge and online at fourseasonsbeaumont. org. There is also a special movie phone line that you can call and hear what is playing each day along with some information about the movie. The telephone number is (951) 769-4928. Our CC&Rs include a set of rules governing the usage of the Theater. You may bring in only popcorn, candy and beverages and what you carry in, please carry out. You must be courteous and respectful of the staff and all other movie goers. And (although this should go without having to say it), please turn off your mobile device. The Theater is also available for Association special events and Board approval is needed if the event will conflict with the daily movie schedule. Association committees and Board approved clubs may reserve the Theater for special showings which may not conflict with the daily schedule. The Counter Culture Cinema Club and the Chavurah Jewish Social Club along with other clubs usually show monthly or semi-monthly movies for the enjoyment of the residents. If your favorite movie hasn't been shown, and you want to see it, no problem. You can request movie titles for showing on a future day by advising the Lodge Attendant. So go to the movies. You can even request a blanket from the Lodge Attendant before the movie begins. Wow! Free movies, popcorn and blankets… this is even better than those double feature Saturday matinees! ~ Margie Chadburn Rules & Regulations committee Emergency Preparedness Committee Spring forward and fall back. We need to utilize our time changes as reminders to check the batteries on our smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Check your home and auto emergency kits for expiration dates and completeness. Your home should also be inspected to uncover things that could become a problem during an emergency. In the event of an earthquake all of your storage and file cabinets should be secured to the wall. Heavy items should be stored below eye level to keep you from getting a concussion. Entry ways and exits must be kept clear to allow for a quick exit. Your pilot lights on your stove and water heater must be kept clear of wood and paper that could start a fire. Limit the use of extension cords and do not extend them across high traffic areas where they could become a trip hazard. You should do a thorough inspection of your utilities. Make sure your electrical cords are properly connected and grounded to keep them from sparking. Ruptured gas lines are potentially the most dangerous things in your home. Do not rush to immediately shut off the gas! Using that shiny new tool will shut off the gas but acting too quickly may force you to become the barbecue king until the Gas Company can restore service to your home. Waterline breaks will force you to use your emergency water supply. The recommendation is one gallon per person per day. So, for my family of three it would mean three blue seven gallon containers of water. Using larger containers would require a pump. You cannot flush your toilet without water so you must use an alternate method of collecting your waste. You can use a five gallon bucket lined with plastic bags with a toilet seat attached to fill the bill. If you are interested in learning more about emergency preparedness, EPC meets the third Tuesday of the month in the RCN Conference Room at 10 am. ~ Mike Mendoza
