FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2018 41 Let's Dance Our dance for the month of April is the Cha-cha – a fun, lively dance with so many ways to express yourself. The music for Cha-cha is always popular too – it started in the 60s and brings back memories of some fun times for many of us who came of age during those years. In Cha-cha there are many familiar steps and patterns that may be familiar from Rumba, Waltz and Foxtrot. Additionally, Cha-cha has something you don't get from any of the other dances… to dance in shine position. This is when you dance apart without touching your partner. You can use this dance at other dances where no one is dancing in a "hold" position (or dancing together) and actually have something to do with your feet besides just jumping around. We know you're going to have a lot of fun with this dance and we look forward to seeing you at class! P.S… We do our Cha-cha at a slower pace so everyone can do it! Reminder: we have free practice sessions on Thursdays at 6 pm in the Ballroom (if available) or RCN room. We help each other review the steps we learned on Monday. It is a great opportunity to get to know the other club members as well. Remember, the more you practice, the easier and more FUN dancing becomes. Give it a try! See you in the Ballroom Monday, April 2 from 6 to 7 pm for beginners; 7 to 8 pm for intermediate and advanced. Classes are a bargain price of $10 per person for professional instruction. Contacts: Puring or Gary Stifter at (951) 922-8333 or at purings@verizon.net. ~ Sue Condurachi Come on everyone… You are invited to a FREE SOCK HOP, in the Ballroom, Friday, April 13 at 5 pm. Although mostly Country line dancing, we will have a variety of other music as well. So if you are not busy, join us. Bring your own favorite beverage to go with dinner from The Bistro, relax and enjoy the music. We will furnish glasses, water and ice. This is the perfect time to observe the dances and meet some neighbors. My personal theory is that all music is good for the soul. Add dancing and you have exercise to keep you healthier and stimulate your mind. Country line dancing, especially, can be adapted for minor mobility issues. We call them variations and no one seems to notice the change. The regular line dancing class is held on Tuesday in the Ballroom. Very Beginning dancers (in odd months only) 2:15 to 3 pm, Intermediate 3 to 3:45 pm, and the advanced from 3:45 to 4:30 pm. I take more time to instruct in the beginner's class and go slowly so that you may learn the steps. The intermediate class gets instructions with new dances and a quick review of dances as needed. The advanced class is more complicated dances with far less instruction. Please bring water and wear shoes that will slide on wood floors. Hope to see you at the Sock Hop! ~ Martha Franck Line Dancing
