| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2018 | 33 Yiddish Culture Club "Why is this night different from all other nights?" This is a question that has been asked for centuries and will again be asked on the night of April 11 when the Yiddish Culture Club will hold their family Seder dinner in the South Clubhouse at 6 pm. We have again planned a Seder which will include the traditional symbols of matzoh, wine, bitter herbs, parsley, roasted or boiled egg, charoset, and the lamb bone. Dinner will follow and include such family favorites as chicken soup with matzoh balls, gefilte fish, appropriate entreés, and dessert. During the Seder all the 'family' will participate in the reading of our YCC Haggadah, which tells the story of a peoples' liberation from slavery and emphasizes the struggle for freedom and human dignity. Our tradition requires us to remember slavery to reinforce our commitment to freedom and advises us that we should not delight in freedom as long as others in the world are not free. Since this is a joyous as well as a serious holiday, we will join in song and maybe even in dance as we celebrate. Everyone is welcome to join us for this event. Seating is limited to 105 persons. The cost for the Seder with dinner is $22 for Yiddish Club Members and $26 for non-member guests. Paid reservations must be received by April 4, 2018. A flyer with reservation form is available in the Main Clubhouse lobby. Seating will be by reservation and paid reservations should be sent to Diane Stone, 1800 Litchfield Ct. More info, Diane, 769-0130. Paisano Club Little leprechauns danced merrily at our March Irish Dinner and we also had great Irish food and decorations. We will celebrate on April 6, with a "Spring Fling" at the South Clubhouse with a marvelous Italian dinner of ravioli with choice of sauces, chicken cacciatore, Caesar salad, garlic bread and a special Italian dessert. You are welcome to BYOB. As always, Jeanette and her team will decorate a spectacular room with the night's theme and Jeri always manages to hire great entertainment. Everyone can find a little Italian in themselves. In May, we will celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Wonderful Mexican dinner and night. Reminder – Dinners are now $16 pp – Dues remain the same at $20 pp. Checks can be mailed or dropped off at 610 Torrey Pines Road (box by front door) or given to Carol Choisnet at the event for the next month's dinner or your dues. Please get your checks in early as we fill up fast – we can only seat 105. We meet on the first Friday of every month. A reminder: guests from Sun Lakes can come one time for $20, then if they decide to join they will have to pay the membership fee of $20 and $16 dinner fee. If you want to bring a guest not from Sun Lakes, the fee is $20. If you need to cancel, you must do so by the Friday before our dinner to be reimbursed. Please call Carol Choisnet at 769-2616. We are often asked if only Italians can join our club. We are called Paisano, which translates to "friend," something we all are at our club. Our only requirement is that you enjoy having fun and love people and come with a hearty appetite. You do not have to worry about where you will sit if you don't know any of our members, as we will seat you at a table with friendly people. If you have any questions, you can call Carol Choisnet regarding reservations at 769-2616 or questions in general about our club – President, Clark Robinson at 797-0597 or Vice President, Jeri Wall at 909-731-3311.
