LIFESTYLE
DIRECTOR REPORT
By Richard Booth, Lifestyle Director
THE IMPORTANCE OF STRENGTH TRAINING
With the new gym flooring I thought it important to give insight into the
positive effects of weight training.
Regular weight training does more than just build better muscles; it builds
a better, healthier body.
Several studies confirm that mild to moderate resistance training at least
three days a week reduces blood pressure and lowers LDL cholesterol levels,
all of which improve cardiovascular health. Weight training also improves
the way the body processes sugar, which could reduce the risk of developing
diabetes.
Another study examined the effect of weight training on osteoarthritis.
This study and others confirm that exercise of any kind improves strength,
gait, and the ability to perform activities of daily living among older adults
with osteoarthritis, and in many cases, reduces the pain associated with the
disease.
We hope you take the time to visit Solera Diamond Valley's Gym and take
advantage of all its amenities to help improve your quality of life.
