12 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2018 | March Tip of the Month: If you live alone it is imperative that you, in addition to having an emergency contact system, have someone you can check-in with daily who will be alerted if you fail to contact them because you are incapacitated. There are instances where people could have been saved if they had not been left in bed, or on the floor, for days! This someone could be a neighbor, friend, or family member. And, everyone should have emergency information and contact information like Vial of Life, or File of Life, kept current and readily available. An Internet search for either of these will lead you to an online, downloadable form. You should also make an effort to determine who your Street Captain is, as they can give you a Household Information packet that has a form for this in it. If you are a new resident here, you may wonder what are the Emergency Preparedness Committee and Street Captains, and why do many of us take the time to take special training like Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), CPR, or Red Cross First Aid courses? Because we believe that should a situation occur that overwhelms, or incapacitates, normal emergency services (Fire, Medical, or Police), it is better to have some plan in place that can mitigate the impact on our Four Seasons community, than not to have any plan. So we meet, and train, and plan, on a regular basis to prepare for such an event. We also try to identify special needs of our neighbors and keep them informed about how to prepare for an emergency or disaster. Please consider becoming a Street Captain for your block, or area! For more information, please check the Four Seasons' calendar for meeting days and times (generally the last Monday of the month at 10:30 am in the Lodge, so come on by). We still want to encourage anyone with a marketing or recruiting background to join us in establishing a program to achieve an even greater level of participation in community emergency preparedness. We have about 45 Street Captains to cover our 1,106 residences. In order to adequately cover our community, we should have 100 — more if possible. Emergency Preparedness Committee Facilities Committee Why do the members of the Facilities Committee serve our association? We admire the beauty of our community and appreciate looking at the surrounding exterior and interior design. Our desire is to progressively maintain and improve the facilities and grounds of Four Seasons in Hemet How is this accomplished and what approach is used to keep a 15 year old community looking its very best? The answer is a well- designed program called Scheduled Preventive Maintenance. Think what would happen if our airline carriers had no maintenance; or spot welders on a manufacturing line missed the weld on your new car. If they neglected their scheduled preventive maintenance program, the results would be unsatisfactory and customer appreciation would decline. Our product is the Lodge and all the amenities within its landscape. The residents of Four Seasons are the customers. And we pay our association dues to maintain a quality product. Each Facilities Committee member periodically has the task of inspecting the dwellings, roads, furnishings, plumbing, lighting, equipment, heating and air conditioning, just to name a few of the many maintenance needs in our community. Scheduling a comprehensive preventive maintenance program in our community involves systematic planning in order to prevent serious and expensive emergency repairs. Resident interaction is a very important part of preserving and improving the resources in our community. We encourage ALL residents to help us by reporting any potential problems to management so that we can address these issues in a timely manner with minimal cost. The Facilities Committee needs your help to keep our community maintained and beautiful.
