34 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2018 | Happy Cookers Happy Cookers is doing something special on Fri., May 25 to honor mothers and fathers. They are hosting a brunch in the South Clubhouse at 11 am. The brunch will be hosted by Thomas Catering and the fees are $8.50 for members and $9.50 for non- members. Payment information can be obtained from Janice Walsh at (661) 373-6849. The brunch should be a special and delicious way to honor your loved ones. Happy Cookers meet the fourth Friday of each month (except November). If you missed the Happy Cookers March meeting, you missed many scrumptious dishes made by club members. Samples of traditional Irish flavors included: potato candy, corned beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, colcannon… a combination of mashed potatoes, cabbage, cream and leeks. There were many more recipes enjoyed by all. No one left without being charmed by an Irish Leprechaun or two. See you Fri., May 25! The Sun Lakes Playhouse is getting ready for our first Readers Theater production of the year on May 20 at the South Clubhouse. There will be two performances: one at 1 pm which includes coffee and cookies and the second at 4 pm which will include wine and cheese. Our May meeting will provide more information on the Readers Theater. Ticket sales for this production will be held from May 13 through May 19 in the Main Clubhouse lobby from 9 am to 2 pm. Pre-sale ticket prices are $8 per person or $10 at the door. Sue Dunn will direct The Scarlet Pimpernel. Auditions were held in April and rehearsals with the cast begin this month.
