FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Rules and laws serve many purposes necessary for a thriving
society, including the punishment of wrongdoers, the resolution of
disputes, the promotion of the common good and moral habituation.
The fact that every organized social institution, including families,
schools and countries have recognized rules show humans
dependence on established codes of conduct. Rules and laws promote
the common good. Humans tend to act out of self- interest. However,
there are cases in which everyone benefits by pursuing a common
interest and working together in cooperation.
As everyone knows, the Board is going to implement a speed
enforcement policy. We held two Town Hall meetings to listen to
your concerns and suggestions. You will have already heard our new
proposal at the April 25 open meeting and the process that follows.
I also want to address the reason for property owners requirement
to sign approval for renters "house account" privileges. The reason
we do this is twofold: 1. To alert the Homeowner of the potential
financial liability if the renter does not pay the bills. 2. The signatures
will be solid proof of "understanding the house account program" if
we must take a delinquent account to Small Claims Court.
Changing gears, please check your Lifestyles Magazine or the front
desk for the upcoming dates of the Garage Sales. Even if you are not
looking to buy, it is a great venue to get out and socialize with your
Sun Lakes friends and neighbors.
Food for thought by Winston Churchill:
Everyone is in favor of free speech. Hardly a day passes without its
being extolled, but some people's idea of it is that they are free to say
what they like, but if anyone else says anything back, that is an outrage.
