Our Saturday Morning Mixer will be held on May 5 at 8 am. All residents of Sun Lakes are invited to join us and refreshments are provided. On Wed., May 9, we are having a tennis mixer/dinner at the South Clubhouse. Please sign up now. Sat., May 26 is our Second Quarterly Meeting at 5:30 pm at the South Clubhouse. There is a sign-up sheet for this event at the South Clubhouse, seating is limited so please sign up now. If any of you ladies would be interested in a Mother/Daughter tennis match on Mother's Day, call Lori Hazelton at 236-6111. (If this turns out well we will also do a Father/Son tennis match on Father's Day.) Please note that for those of you who have not had a chance to purchase wine glasses or beer mugs with the Sun Lakes Tennis Club logo on them, they are still available. We play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 to 6 pm, and Sat., 10 am to 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (normally). Info., Bruno, 797-0357. This month we are continuing the feature called "Meet the Players." Each month we have been featuring one of the regular players. This month you will be introduced to one of the newest players, Wendy Liquori. While our articles will continue, the "Meet the Players" feature will take a summer break and return again in the fall. Meet the Players: Wendy is from Connecticut where she played tennis at her house as well as at the local Country Club. Even during the winters she played platform tennis/paddle outside. In 2001 Wendy moved to Orange County and continued playing tennis for about five years. In addition she found time for a little Bocce Ball activity. She arrived in beautiful Sun Lakes in 2017. She has tried out various activities since moving here. She loves the water and plays water volleyball and swims laps in the warmer months. A neighbor suggested she try Pop Tennis since she previously played tennis. She started Pop Tennis in February and states "I love it. The players are so friendly, fun and exciting. This is now my favorite sport." With Wendy's height and her ability to play at the net, she is an awesome force and has a terrific sense of humor. Glad to have Wendy as our latest addition. We had our first Pizza Party Social of the year with a great turn out. Thanks to the "helping hands social committee" for a variety of salads and delicious desserts. Many thanks also go to Theresa Van Haren for the "Noodle" game enjoyed by everyone. We welcome everyone interested in the game to join us. Scheduled days of play are Tues./Thurs./Fri. from 8 to 10 am. On Sunday the courts are open to everyone, but many POP Tennis players show up to play on Sunday at 8 am.
