8 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2018 | A Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) has been newly formed here in Hemet. The goal of this team of concerned citizens is to provide permanent solutions for the transients on our streets. This Outreach Team needs everyone's help. Many residents give to panhandlers every day. One panhandler can accumulate $150 daily. Even more, $2.7 million is spent here in Hemet on panhandlers per year. This makes our beloved town and our businesses an easy target. Will you be a part of the solution and help everyone learn to say "NO" to panhandling? During the May 29 city council meeting, the HOT presented this campaign to the council members. The team had put together a comprehensive five year action plan based on community surveys, input from HOT team members, as well as an in-depth study of what will work for our city in addressing the homeless crisis. The council endorsed this campaign so you will see the city logo on materials! The Homeless Outreach Team is trying to spread awareness on the KNOW WHERE IT GOES campaign in various ways. You will see canopies and tables setup in parking lots and signage appearing in local businesses who join in the campaign. Be sure to check out the team's website: www.knowwhereitgoes.com. It provides detailed information on all these organizations and offers you an opportunity to volunteer and join in this great effort. Below are just some of the local agencies where you can donate to help our homeless become independent and a productive person in society. Let's give to local agencies that provide permanent solutions to those in need! SAY NO TO PAN HANDLING If you are out with friends or family who do NOT have an RFID tag on their car, or if you cannot use your own access code, you can still get back into the community by using the Roving Patrol gate code just like you would yours. At the silver box at the edge of the guard house, press the phone icon button to get a dial tone, then press 979 to call Roving Patrol. Roving will verify that you are a resident and open the gate. ROVING PATROL GATE CODE: 979 Listed as "AAA ROVING PATROL"
