ICE CREAM SOCIALS Beat the Heat Indoor Movie Join us on Wed., July 18 at 6 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom as we show Swing Away a PG-13 rated drama/romance that is 1 hour and 38 minutes long. Following a meltdown that leads to a suspension, professional golfer Zoe Papadopoulos (Shannon Elizabeth) travels to her grandparents' village in Greece to escape the harsh spotlight of the international sports world. Between baking bread and eating baklava, she meets and mentors a 10-year-old girl who is determined to become the next golf sensation. Popcorn will be on sale for $1 a bag and the bar will be available in the Ballroom! Summer Luau Sat., Aug. 4, 4 - 7pm, in the Main Ballroom, $33 pp. Doors will open at 4 pm. Take a trip to the islands without ever leaving Sun Lakes. That's right! On Aug. 4 the Ballroom will be transformed into a Hawaiian paradise. You'll be greeted with leis by a beautiful island native as you enter into this tropical paradise. Enjoy a traditional luau buffet with pulled pork island coleslaw and other Polynesian edibles. Then sit back and relax with a Mai Tai from the island bar and enjoy some live Hawaiian music, a four-person hula show and drummers. You can take part in this relaxing and entertaining event for only $33 pp. So, put on your best Hawaiian shirt and make your way down to the Ballroom to partake in traditional island festivity out of the heat and without the added expense of a hotel or a plane ticket. For more information please contact the Recreation desk. Join us on Sat., Aug. 18, at dusk on the Veranda/ Driving Range for the showing of A Wrinkle in Time. The movie will start at dusk (approx. 7:30 pm). Bring your golf cart or a chair and blanket to relax under a 22' tall air screen. Please remember chairs and blankets should be in front of the golf carts for better viewing. There will be popcorn for sale for $1. Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry for five years ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there. Joined by Meg's classmate Calvin O'Keefe and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe Rated PG, Fantasy/Science Fiction. 1h 50m. They are guaranteed to make you laugh until you drop! This event will be table seating. There will be an appetizer buffet in the Ballroom that you can purchase for $10 that night. Lottery dates are July 30 – Aug. 5. You can pick up your registration forms at the Main Clubhouse Reception Desk. Checks only, limit four people per check, eight to 10 people per table. Table assignments will be posted in the Recreation Office hallway by Aug. 9.
