| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2019 | 7 By Joe Formino, Chairman, District Delegate Assembly Don't you think we have had enough rain? We are beyond being soggy — saturated comes to mind. So if you have been praying for rain, please stop. We are beginning to believe we are confined to quarters or under house arrest. It is time to bust loose and enjoy ourselves. Plan a trip or take a long weekend. We need a change of scenery and some different places to visit. The other day someone said, "We are spending Lent here and after Easter we are going to "fly the coop." Don't get the idea we are travel agents making these suggestions. Travel broadens your mind and interests, and you meet great people in the USA and all over the world. There will come a day when you will not be able to walk or move around the way you do now, so take advantage of it. Traveling to Europe or Asia or South America can be an adventure and fun. The histories of the other continents and their magic cities are like waking up every day in a different world. The people of the world like Americans because we are usually friendly and appreciate directions and assistance. There is no longer a language barrier; English has become the world language and it seems everyone knows at least a smattering of it, enough to get along. Some traveling is expensive. It depends where you want to visit and what you are willing to pay to get there. We have seen the same trip for two or three weeks cost between $3,500 to $6,000 per person, it depends on the travel agency or the tour packager. When you really check them out, you will find the same airlines or ships or hotels are being used. So, what is the difference? The more expensive plan has you in a larger hotel room or a larger ship cabin, perhaps will give you a few more meals or add a few excursions. Besides, you can travel all over the world using Elder Hostels or other cost cutting methods to lower your travel costs. There are two kinds of travelers. One group likes to travel with neighbors or friends or relatives. The other group likes to travel with their spouse or a few close friends. If you cannot travel or do not like to travel or do not appreciate living out of a suitcase, you can broaden your horizons by reading books or watch travel movies about different peoples and countries. Why did I put this article together? I guess I'm getting tired of grumpy Sun Lakers who need to "get away from it all!" (Present company included.) District Delegate Assembly Report Within the next few weeks, Sun Lakes residents will receive an envelope containing the Charity Week Schedule of Events, raffle tickets and Helicopter Ball Drop Ticket. Don't throw it away – it could be your lucky day! Raffle Tickets are $5 each or three for $10.
