36 | OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2019 | Founders Duplicate Bridge Friday Duplicate Bridge Emily Post, famous for her book on etiquette also addresses manners at the bridge table. She mentions that gloaters, moaners, card snappers and those who hold unwanted postmortems are unlikely to be invited again. (Bridge Bulletin December 2018) Club news: Welcome new members, Janis Musante and Carolyn Curtin. The treasurer will pay out higher rewards for first, second and third place winners based on number of tables. If you are a current intermediate duplicate player, a rubber bridge player who wants to learn the duplicate game, or a former bridge player (college maybe?) or taking bridge classes here at OHCC, then come join us. We are a friendly bunch. We play every Tuesday at 6:30 pm (check in at 6:15 pm) at Abravanel Hall or the Mykonos room. Player donation of $3 is requested. Please bring correct amount. Annual dues are $6. For partnership, arrangements please contact Phyllis Skall, (858) 405-2684 or e-mail pskall@yahoo.com. Please join us! We offer a Duplicate Bridge game that combines the superior scoring of Duplicate Bridge but also has the friendlier and non- aggressive attitude of home style Rubber Bridge. With Duplicate Bridge, your true opponents are the pairs that hold the same cards as you would rather than your opponents at the table. We are not an ACBL game and for that, we not only offer an extremely reasonable game price of just $2, but also give cash awards to the winners. If you are interested, please call John Gates, the president of this bridge club, to see if this type of game might meet your expectations. We are relatively small and have anywhere from five to eight tables. The games are at 1 pm on the second, fourth and fifth Fridays of the month in Mykonos. You do not have to join this club to play your first game, however if you decide to join the annual dues are $6. Great payouts (up to $1,000), fun games, door prizes, and ice cream treats at the break are just a few reasons to come check us out. The last time we played in October a Nubee walked in the door. We informed him of beginners' luck and he walked away $100 richer. Our faithful players do all right, too. Just ask a certain someone who won five times last year, including one night when she won two games. Below is our list of 2019 dates. Doors open at 6:30 pm and games start promptly at 7 pm. Cost is still $8 for 10 games. See you there. April 13, May 18, June 22, Sept. 28 and Oct. 19. Thanks to all from your BINGO staff!
