FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2019 57 Tennis Club The big news for June is that the Four Seasons Tennis Club is wrapping up its very first season with a United States Tennis Association (USTA) team. Beginning in May, the Tennis Club began a tri-level team to compete in regional USTA leagues and tournament. The first league was comprised of six matches, three hosted by the Coachella Valley, Sun City, Palm Desert Resort, and three hosted by the Four Seasons Tennis Club. Each match included men's doubles teams with players rated as 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0. Members of our team include: Chuck Beckman (Captain), Stan Lam, Tony Chua, Hilario Luna, Scott Benedict, Larry Martin, Brian Flowers, Tim Jones, Howard Levine, Robin Low, and Steve Hovey. As a new team, we didn't have much success in our initial match out in the desert, losing all three matches. But we didn't embarrass Four Seasons Beaumont. We told them we were from Four Seasons Hemet. When we improve, we will start using our real names, instead of Noah Good, Chuck Itall, Ira Grett, and Tom Foolery. Our June 29 Play Day is probably going to be our annual Red- Blue team challenge event, so that we won't have to do it on July Fourth, when other Independence Day activities will be going on. This is a Tennis Club event, so watch for the emails and sign up to participate. Also in June, we hope to add some intermediate tennis lessons and skill practices, in addition to the highly successful beginners' sessions. The beginners' sessions will be moving to an 8:30 start time, with the more advanced sessions following. Reminder that the cleaning of the courts is now scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays, beginning around 1:30 pm. So, schedule your play on those days early enough to get your games in before the courts close for washing. The twice-a-week cleaning will make our courts clean and safe and keep them in good shape. It will also help if that bird that uses Court Two for potty target practice would take some Imodium. The Tennis Club's Executive Committee holds its monthly meetings in the Conference Room of the Rec Center North (RCN) at 6 pm on the last Monday of each month. Members and guests are welcome, however, they will need to use the secret knock on the door: it's Morse Code for, "That ball was clearly out." ~ Steven Hovey, sahovey47@hotmail.com Our USTA Team at Match 1 Future Tennis Experts
