FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2019 47 We had a wonderful time on our May trip to the Getty Museum. Thank you to all members who joined us and made our maiden voyage into the travel world a resounding success. Our July 16 Newport Harbor Cruise-Rogers Garden trip is full and a wait-list has been established. Because of the demand for this particular excursion, a second trip on July 30 has been scheduled and will be the same venues and cost — harbor cruise, lunch at a restaurant, and tour of Rogers Gardens at $89 for members and $94 for nonmembers. If you are interested or still need to pay, please contact Irene Welker at (951) 845-7510 or irenewelker55@gmail.com. We will be deciding on our autumn adventure at our next meeting, scheduled in the RCN Main Room, starting at 10 am on July 20. You may submit suggestions for our next trip to Irene, and those members present during the July meeting will cast a vote from the top three choices. Other dates and times to put on your calendar are: Aug. 13 Travel Expo from 1:30 to 5:30 pm at The Lodge; Sept. 28, regularly- scheduled meeting at 10 am in the RCN Main Room; Nov. 16 our holiday potluck brunch and meeting from 9 am to noon in the Ballroom; and Jan. 18, regularly scheduled meeting at 10 am in the RCN Main Room. Please contact Sharon Bond at sjbond2013@gmail.com if you have questions about email notifications and updates. ~ Kris Corbett Travel Group "The secret to living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple, and love without measure." ~ Tibetan proverb At our May meetings we focused on our continuing theme to encourage those "seeds of change" that will help us live well and longer. Topics of the month included information on grains, root vegetables (or how to "squash" unhealthy habits), ways to add healthy years to our lives, and clarifying conflicting information on avocados, bananas, peanut butter, eggs, and potatoes. A few anecdotes were shared on individualized weight loss successes. Our last meeting of the month included a visit from Carolyn Rowe, our area captain, who encouraged us all to become "the best me that I can be." The biggest weight-loss members for the month were Cathy Calhoun and Majorie Melendez. Congratulations to you both and remember "we're rooting for you" to continue on your weight-loss journey. If you are interested in learning more about TOPS, lettuce help you. New members are always welcome to turnip at our meetings which are held every Tuesday at 8 am in The Lodge Ballroom. While taking weight loss seriously, we also have fun and there is always a lot of support and, apparently this month, a few corny jokes which can't be beet.
