FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2019 39 During the holidays, eating healthy can become a challenge. Here at TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) we have instituted a contest to help us achieve a sense of pride in ourselves. For nine weeks we have a different challenge each week. While we have banded together in three groups for the purpose of awards, each individual contributes to the team, reporting back at our meetings. Here are the goals each week: • Week 1 & 8: Light exercise or stretching during all commercials of a 60-minute television program. Do these three times during the week to meet the challenge. • Week 2 and 7: Lose weight or be in leeway if a KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). • Week 3: Cook a healthy recipe from scratch using whole, not processed foods. • Week 4: Keep a food journal five days out of the week (be honest). • Week 5: Exercise for 30 minutes (your choice of exercise). Do these three times during the week to meet the challenge • Week 6: Measure all your portions for three days during this week. • Week 9: Skip your favorite dessert or high- calorie food item (including cookies, candy and cake). This challenge will run through Jan. 7 so this will keep us on track during the coming holidays. If this sounds like something you'd like to participate in, please join us on Tuesday mornings at 8 am. We weigh in and then have a program starting at 8:30 am in The Lodge Ballroom. Info., Andi Henderson at (918) 497- 6491 or Cathy Calhoun at (951) 849-2614. ~ Andrea Henderson TOPS Seasoned Solos If you are single and enjoy a variety of activities, then Seasoned Solos just might be the group for you. At each meeting we discuss what is going on in the Inland Empire and plan activities, from local lunches and dinners to excursions to presidential libraries, the Redlands Bowl, Metro Link trips into LA, and the beach train to San Juan Capistrano. There's not much that we won't consider doing. We meet on the first Friday of each month in The Lodge Arts & Crafts Room at 6 pm. For further information, call Joyce at (951) 850-3055. ~ Joyce Olson
