66 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2019 As we prepare to close out 2019, we look back on all the fun times we have had playing pool together at The Lodge. (Check out the above photos of members demonstrating their billiards skills.) We are so grateful to each and every member of the Billiards for Fun Group for your lively personalities, laughter, genuine kindness, and consistent support. We respect and enjoy all of you. Thanks to Dave Martin for officiating at the 11 am session all year, and for all the fun and encouragement he provided. We are grateful for you, Dave! We held our last tournament of 2019 on Nov. 12. The winners will be announced in the January issue of the Breeze, along with their names engraved on the perpetual plaque. We can tell you, however, that it was a lot of fun (which is always the case), and the winners worked hard to achieve their victory! Congratulations to the winners. If you have wanted to join a great group of pool players who are not only nice but really good at the game, please come by the Billiards Room any Tuesday at 1 pm. For nine years we have had two sessions, but are having only one session at 1 pm beginning on Jan. 6, 2020. We pull peas to determine partnerships, and rotate tables so everyone has a chance to challenge each partnership. C'mon and join us — we know you want to. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine, egcellent@msn.com Billiards for Fun Wild Bunch Billiards Leta Ramirez lines up her shot Bob Semler demonstrates intense concentration Verina Rector prepares her shot as Dave Martin photobombs The Wild Bunch 8-Ball Billiards Group is geared for those individuals who want to play competitively with those of their skill level. We started the new year with inviting the "best of the best" from Sun Lakes and Solera to play competition on Fridays, from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in our Billiards Room. It has been a great success with the skill levels ranging from Level 4 to Level 7. The Wild Bunch consists of some of the best players in the league: Joe Spinella, Lucas Don, Robert Howard, Bob Rector, Mike Corbett, Carlos Rivera, LeRoy Wright, Rocket Spinosa, and Gracy Luna. We had our 2nd Annual Wild Bunch Billiards Tournament on Oct. 25. We competed with Sun Lakes and Solera. Each player gets to play one-on-one with the other two competing teams. We played 8-Ball in the morning, with a race to three games and 9-Ball in the afternoon, with a race to seven games. Our morning 8-Ball players were Rocket Spinosa, LeRoy Wright, Carlos Rivera, and Mike Corbett. Our afternoon 9-Ball players were Joe Spinella, Robert Howard, Bob Rector, and Lucas Don. Solera took the top spot in 8-Ball with total points of 23, and Four Seasons tied with Sun Lakes for the top spot in 9-Ball with total points of 44 each. Everyone is looking forward to our next tournament with Solera and Sun Lakes in early 2020. If you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the Billiards Room and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We do not play with partners; we play one-on-one with an opponent of your skill level. We are always looking for those who want to play competitively and, who knows, you just may want to change up your game and play on the team! And, most important, we have a good time! ~ Gracy Luna, gracyluna@aol.com
