58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2020 WOW! It's 2020! Yikes! Okay, we're really up to speed and are so happy it's 2020. Our amazing members of the Billiards for Fun Group make it a delightful two hours of fun knocking bright-colored balls around on the pool tables. Each week we have a chance to play different partnerships, which gives us the challenges we need to increase our pool-playing skills. We actually have two formal sessions on Tuesdays — the first from 11 to 1, headed up by Dave Martin, who always makes playing billiards so much fun. (We were going to terminate this session due to low support, but then we had lots of people commit to participate, so this session is still on the books.) The second session is from 1 to 3 pm, hosted by Pete Antoine, who also makes the games challenging and fun. Thanks to both Dave and Pete for their consistent attendance and commitment. We 'preciate ya. Our November tournament winners are the grinning guys in the photos at left. You're amazingly awesome. On Jan. 21 at 1 pm, the Billiards for Fun Group has challenged the Curly Cues to a tournament. Prizes for winners will be announced at the conclusion of the tournament. After talking with the Curly Cues leaders, Leta Ramirez and Pat Semler, it was decided that there will be NO handicaps for the BFFG players. Eeek! I hope we're up to the challenge. The CC ladies have really sharpened their skills, and now BFFG players are kinda nervous. (Not really.) If you have a desire to dust off your pool cue, come join us. If you don't have a pool stick, there are lots of them in the Billiards Room. Or should you want to join a great group of people having fun every Tuesday at either 11 am to 1 pm, or 1 to 3 pm play periods, please come by and check us out. We have all levels of players, and everyone is welcome. We also have a Saturday practice time reserved during the same time slots, which is open to all. C'mon and join us. We promise it'll be fun. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine, egcellent@msn.com Billiards for Fun Curly Cues enjoyed another year of fun and activities at Four Seasons. The ladies are all playing quite well, can't call anyone a beginner much longer. So many friendships have been formed in this group. It's always nice to see players getting together outside of our Monday morning play. If you want to meet new neighbors and like to socialize, this is the place to be. We keep each other up-to-date on the latest Four Seasons news and events. If you missed an event at The Lodge or a concert, on Monday you will hear how it went. We have quarterly luncheons at local restaurants. It's a fun time for everyone to socialize without holding up the game. We also have a holiday party at the end of the year. Our quarterly tournaments are always a favorite. We pull numbers to see who will be partners, so no one ever knows who they will be paired with. Our final tournament of 2019 was Nov. 4. The winners were: first place, Bev Lunetta; and second place, Barbara Morton and Leta Ramirez. Congratulations, ladies. Curly Cues meet every Monday from 11 am until 1 pm. We also play from 1 to 2 pm if there are enough members available to play singles. Please come join us, ladies. It's a great way to meet some pretty awesome Four Seasons neighbors. For more information, please contact Leta Ramirez at (626) 645-0798 or Pat Semler at (714) 325- 5280. Hope to see you soon! ~ Leta and Pat Curly Cues Wild Bunch Billiards The "Wild Bunch" 8-Ball Billiards Group is geared for those individuals who want to play competitively with those of their skill level. We started the new year with inviting the "best of the best" from Sun Lakes and Solera to play competition on Fridays, from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in our Billiards Room. It has been a great success, with skill levels ranging from Level 4 to Level 7. The "Wild Bunch" consists of some of the best players in the league: Joe Spinella, Robert Howard, Lucas Don, Bob Rector, Mike Corbett, Carlos Rivera, LeRoy Wright, Rocket Spinosa, and Gracy Luna. If you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the Billiards Room and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We do not play with partners. We play one-on-one with an opponent of your skill level. We are always looking for those who want to play competitively and, who knows, you just may want to change up your game and play on the team! And, most important, we have a good time! ~ Gracy Luna, gracyluna@aol.com First place Pete Antoine and Mike Fisher Second place Johnny Ramirez and Michael Rothberg First place winner Bev Lunetta Second place winners Barbara Morton and Leta Ramirez
