FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2020 39 Classic Film Group We are continuing with famous director Clint Eastwood and screening one more of his trademark movies, The Outlaw Josey Wales, on Tuesday, Feb.11 at 6 pm in The Lodge Theater. Following the movie we will have an open discussion on one of director Clint Eastwood's trademarks, the Underdog Hero. Josey Wales (Clint Eastwood) is a peaceful farmer in the days near the end of the Civil War. After his house is burned and his family murdered, he hardens into a human bullet, dedicated to destroying the renegades who took his "life." He joins a band of unreconstructed rebel guerrilla fighters who continue to fight the Union, even after the surrender of the Confederacy, an action which makes them, legally, outlaws. Josey is driven by vengeance, but after a while, that's not enough. Before the tragic loss of his family, he had been a peaceful farmer. Hardened on the outside, inside, he still yearns for the life he lost. Each day offers him chances to remember, to satisfy his yearning, to begin again. The movie shows us how Josey Wales, a mere seeker of vengeance, learns to live again, and rededicated to the values he chose so long ago. Let's face it. "Dying ain't much of a livin' boy," is a great line. Yes, the Oscars are early this year! Our one screening this month, on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 6 pm, is the film Gloria Bell (USA 2018, 1 hr. 42 min., English). Here is a brief description from Amazon.com. "Gloria (Julianne Moore) spends her nights joyfully letting loose at clubs around Los Angeles and finds herself thrust into an unexpected and complicated new romance." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theater has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early. We hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability.
