44 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2020 Women's Evening Bible Study I really enjoy my daily walks around our quiet and scenic community. The benefits are maintaining a healthy body, improving my mood, and higher levels of energy. Our Bible study ladies have a variety of exercise favorites: pickle ball, ping pong, swimming, line dancing and walking their dogs. Staying in shape is great but what about our spiritual muscles. Why should you study the Bible? There are numerous benefits and I would like to share five: 1. Best selling book of all time; 2. To gain wisdom; 3. To understand self; 4. It is the Word of God; 5. To understand and know God and His unconditional "agape" love. We are moving right along in our study of the "Parables" of Jesus. Did you know that there are 46 of them? In February we will learn what it means to truly "love your neighbor as yourself " in the story of the Good Samaritan and in the parable "Friend in Need." Our Bible study is non-denominational and open to all women in Four Seasons. We gather together in The Lodge Game Room on Feb. 6 and 20 from 6:30 to 7:45 pm. What a wonderful way to start a new year: digging into the Word of God, learning about God's love, praying for one another, and discovering our true purpose as we share each study with one another. We are a casual and friendly group. Do you have an extra hour and 15 minutes to spare? If you do, I promise it won't be wasted in Bible Study. See you soon! "But I trust in your unfailing love my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord's praise for He has been good to me." Psalm 13:5-6. If you have questions or concerns, just send me a note to my email baerhuggy@icloud.com I will respond promptly. ~ Mary Baer, baerhuggy@icloud.com Watch "The Yankles" and Meet The Filmmaker On March 15 at 5:30 in the RCN, we will be screening the award-winning film, The Yankles. A discussion of the film with Zev Brooks, the writer and producer, will follow. About The Film A down-and-out ex-baseball player, Charlie Jones, needs to meet his community service hours as a coach. The problem is no team wants him. It takes the Yankles, an obscure Orthodox yeshiva (school for Rabbis) baseball team desperate for a coach, to give Charlie his second chance. A humorous match made in heaven, both Charlie and the team rise to unexpected triumphs resulting in entrance to the college world series. With the championship in reach, it seems the Yankles just might need a miracle for that ultimate grand slam victory. The film won numerous awards around the world, at some of the highest profile film festivals. It currently has 4.3 stars on Amazon, and is rated by the viewers as a "Must Watch." The story takes a clever and warm look at the struggle between being true to your beliefs and customs while trying to negotiate a much larger world. Meet The Filmmaker Zev Brooks is a well known personality in the Orange County Jewish community. He is the son of a Rabbi and a practicing Cantor at Beth Emet Synagogue in Anaheim. This is his first film, writing and producing it with his brother, David. Zev is also a songwriter, musician, and comedian who performs around Orange County. About The Evening The film will be played in the RCN and we will have a dessert reception beforehand, featuring Jewish cultural desserts, coffee and tea. ~ Perry Goldstein, perry. goldstein@gmail.com Jewish Cultural Club Life Guide Bible Study This month Doc Sellars will begin a new topic for our weekly study, Christian Character.
