SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | MAY 2020 7
As told to Theresa Rossetti, Resident
Hi, all you people who live here in my neighborhood. My name is
Chipster Smead. My Mom and Dad got me from the Fresno SPCA in 2007,
when I was six weeks old. The SPCA gave me something called a microchip,
so Mom and Dad thought Chipster would be a good name.
When I was a pup, I had so much fun playing Hide 'n Seek with Mom
and Dad! I hid a farrier rasp, a cigarette lighter, a cell phone case and even a
walkie-talkie. They weren't very good hunters though; it took them a long
time to find these things. They said it was because we lived on a BIG ranch.
I loved going for truck rides in my Ford pickup. I knew the noise the keys
made and waited for my driver by the truck. I also had different barks to
alert Mom and Dad. Bears and deer were not allowed, but I only bothered
the wild turkeys if they squabbled amongst themselves. When we lived
there, we had a Beauty Shop and B&B. Every time we had people come to
visit us, I greeted them on arrival and was happy to take pictures with them.
After we moved from the ranch, we camp-hosted on a beautiful beach. I
greeted everyone there too. Once, because our trailer needed repair, Mom
and Dad had to put me in temporary shelter, but I knew they were missing
me, so I went to look for them. It took something called 23 days before
some nice people found my chip and contacted Mom and Dad. They drove
13 hours straight to come and get me!
Now I live here with all of you, and I take Dad on a walk every day. I also
love laying outside under my tree and greeting all of you as you go by. See
you soon!
