FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2020 51 Just in case: Check with your club contact to confirm meeting place, date, and time. The good news is doubles for tennis are allowed again at Four Seasons! What a welcome piece of good news after such a long time. Well, for tennis fanatics, not being able to play for a few days is a long time! As the old adage goes, "it's all relative." Until the lockdown began, I think most of us — to some extent — had taken for granted the privilege of playing tennis in this beautiful community. Truth is, we've all been spoiled rotten here at Four Seasons. Then, this nasty coronavirus hit us out of nowhere. In an instant, our tennis playing privilege was taken away. I, for one, really felt the void in my daily life during this time. I imagine a lot of you felt the same way. Sometimes it's easy to forget how good we have it here at Four Seasons. Thanks to all our responsible residents and neighbors. Together, we have kept our community healthy and safe and, as a result, some of our recreational facilities are open again, with certain restrictions, of course. Due to the social distancing rule which is still in force, our Tennis Club has not been able to reinstate the various programs and activities just yet. However, rest assured that as soon as the restrictions are lifted, we will get right back to work and make them happen. So, keep your eyes peeled and ears to the ground! Meantime, let's all get off the couch, turn off the TV, get back out and start playing and living again. If you are new to the community, you are always welcome and encouraged to join us at any time. See you all at The Courts. With 15-20 voracious, competitive pongers crammed into a 30' x 40' space, each with the sole intent of destroying any opponent standing across the table, any COVID-19 related protocol is probably not first on their agenda. With what is looking like at least a three-month layoff from our beloved sport, we all have alternative choices to help maintain some level of fitness during this period of non-activity. Whether it be engaging in an outdoor sport such as pickleball or paddle tennis, by stretching or doing some form of yoga to keep our joints moving, or simply walking around one of the natural paths that weave throughout the community, you are able to minimize the chance of injury when we do resume the lightning-quick moves that define the game of table tennis. On the bright side, when the tape barriers are finally removed from our Courts room, hopefully we will be playing on a brand new Stiga table, which is scheduled to replace the old one which was badly worn. While the FSTTC anxiously awaits that highly-anticipated call from Cindy, may you all continue to remain optimistic, vigilant, and most importantly, healthy during these very challenging times. ~ Bob Rubenstein, brube88@gmail.com Ping Pong Tennis Club The FSTTC during happier times.
