Well, as we are all aware, work on the golf course renovation has
begun on the practice area and on holes one and nine. For now the
sand traps there are gone, which makes all of us duffers happy, at
least temporarily. In the meantime, the designs for holes, two, three,
seven, and eight have been submitted to the Master Board for review.
The greens, tee boxes, and bunkers will all look new. Very exciting!
In a few months the entire course will be open to play. For the time
being, our tournaments will be nine hole events using our current
handicaps divided by two and rounded up to the nearest number.
Speaking of numbers, we currently have 404 members in the golf
club: 240 men and 164 women, including 36 newbies, 22 men and 14
women. Touring Amateurs remains as popular as ever. Most events
will be limited to 124 players. The March Guys and Dolls Tournament
accommodated 158 golfers, all of whom finished by nightfall. Finally,
a shout out to Mike Ross and Tex Burke, who shot the best number of
all, a one, for Mike on hole number six and for Tex a one on hole 13.
Two aces for two aces. Nice going fellas!
