Swim, Surf & Wellness Wellness: Did you know that there is a there is an inherent healing capacity within us all that, when properly released, can produce remarkable recovery, health, and happiness? This month the Swim, Surf, Wellness Club is focusing on how 80 percent of healing arises from within. In his book, How Healing Works: Get Well and Stay Well Using Your Hidden Power to Heal, Wayne Jonas, MD, draws on four decades of research and patient care to explain how. Dr. Jonas describes how you can take greater personal control of recovery from illness and preventative measures to maintain health. To provide feedback regarding this topic of the healing power of believing in your own ability to heal, and for more information on wellness, contact Dr. Kory Ward at korywc@comcast.net. May 2021 Swim, Surf, Wellness Club Spotlight: This month's spotlight is on both Don and Layne Strelic, recreational swimmers who, despite growing up in California, didn't learn to swim as children. Layne, past SSWC Secretary, took swim lessons in her 20s when she decided that she needed to be able to rescue her son as he explored in the water. Later she became a water safety instructor. Don never learned to swim until he began exercising in the OHCC pool and now joins Layne in Leesa's aqua fitness classes. Want to join our Swim, Surf, and Wellness Club?
