Village Vets
The Commander of the 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company
(1st ANGLICO) at Camp Pendleton, invited those OHCC volunteers
who helped with rebuilding their Eagle's Nest to a dedication
ceremony of three recreation rooms.
More than a dozen residents from OHCC Village Vets Club,
Woodchucks, and artists from Ocean Hills who worked on the project
attended the ceremony, and a barbeque luncheon was served to the
marines and guests.
The Guest speaker, Captain Joel Eisenstein was an ANGLICO
Commander in Vietnam during the Easter Offensive in the Spring of
1972 and had some interesting comments and observations about his
experiences. Like many others in the military, Captain Eisenstein has
remained in touch with many of the unit members he served with.
Those at the ceremony that had been in his Platoon, still referred to
him as "Skipper."
The OHCC Village Vets feel honored in helping 1st ANGLICO,
in our small way, for the work they do for our country and for the
services they actively provide to other allied nations. In turn they
have assisted us in the success of our Veteran's Day Ceremony and
our last Holiday Dinner event. We hope all OHCC Village Vets may
share more social interaction and on-site visits with them in the
coming months.
Treasurer, Bob Smith has set up a special box inside his front
gate at 5059 Dassia Way for 2021 dues. As you may be aware, we
continue to provide support to our military friends even during these
difficult times. Our dues are $10 per person. Please include your
phone number or email on your check so we can contact you for any
additional information and mark it "2021 dues."
We intend on keeping members informed with our monthly Bugle
publication both online and delivered to them.
