| OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2021 | 33 Nine Ball by John Prieskorn Nine ball is my favorite billiards game. Why? Two reasons: 1) It is fast, and it is fun. Fast because there are only 9 balls; and 2) Fun because it is simpler and easier to learn. There is only one concern: since you must first always hit the lowest numbered ball on the table, you MUST play position to be ready for your next shot. This is an advantage: It helps me play better in ALL billiards games. Enjoy learning and have fun in the process! ~ John Rules of 9 Ball 1. Rack balls in diamond shape with #1 on the spot and #9 in the center of the diamond. 2. The break: a) lag to determine who goes first; b) must hit #1 ball first; c) four object balls must hit a rail. 3. Rotation game: must always hit lowest # ball first. 4. 9 ball is a slop game, but you must call the pocket for the 9 ball. 5. OK to pocket the 9 ball anytime, as long as you hit lowest # ball first and call the shot. 6. Any foul causes ball in hand. 7. 3 Consecutive fouls cause loss of game. Billiards We hope that you are enjoying our beautiful spring weather and some of the activities at Ocean Hills that have become available with our progressive reopening plans. There have been several loyal aerobics members participating in our instructor's Zoom aerobics classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. Each class is from 10 to 11 am and includes a warm-up, cardio, weights, and a cool down. Students are encouraged to work at their own level of fitness. The instructor teaches the students how to perform an activity at a beginning, intermediate, and advanced level. The cost of each class is $5. If you would like to join in a class, please contact Margie Raisigel (sungee@pacbell.net). Aerobics Please enjoy the California sunshine. Take a walk and enjoy exercise outside a few times each week so you can stay healthy and feel your best. If you keep up your exercise now, you will be ready for the in person classes. Don't forget you can exercise with our OHCC Instructors right from your own home and use YouTube videos. Here are instructions below. Two suggestions for you to exercise with our very own Ocean Hills Senior Fitness instructors Cheryl Todd and Tatis Cervantes-Aiken. It is free and all you need is a sturdy folding chair. These exercises each last approximately 1 hour. Instructions: Go to the URL line on your computer.
