By Dennis Murphy, 461-0457 The monthly tournament on May 13 went off with a cool shotgun tee start (60°) and a warm but comfortable finish (80°). Eleven foursomes teed off, vying for the first place position in the Regular Scramble competition. This event was spirited, with the four top contending teams having little more than a two- stroke separation. When the curtain came down and the tournament was over, the following posted winning positions for the contest: Winning Teams 1: 46.031 - Terry Lundquist, Sue Jordan, Del and Alyce Mitchum 2: 47.814 - Mark Tamayo, Vicky Cornille, Leo Pasco and Peggy Clendenen 3: 48.233 - Bill and Susan Connelly and Rick and Terry Knode 4: 48.426 - Bruce and Ann Hartwig, Sam Currie and Carol Winnard Closest to the Pin # 5: Vicky Cornille – 8'7" / Terry Lundquist – 12'6" #15: Sue Jordan – 18'9" / Terry Lundquist – 7'0" #16: Team #17, John and Anita Hoetker, Andy Sciacca and Soky Hansen – 5'4" The Darwin Award went unclaimed. Our next contest is set for Thursday, July 8, and will be our Random Draw event. As with all Jack and Jill, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. See ya' on the links! | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2021 | 29 CLUB NEWS Jack & Jill By Judy Lebovitz, 461-0065 Summer is here and our Ladies Golf Club is hoping it doesn't get too hot! We continue to meet every Tuesday morning, and beginning in July we will tee off at 7:30 am for the next three months. Our Charity Tournament is scheduled for October, and we are hoping the Auditorium will be open so we can enjoy a luncheon with representatives from Hospice of the Valley and Michelle's Place joining us. At this Tournament, we invite guests to play, and all monies collected go to these two charities. It's always a fun day, but the most important thing is being able to help these charities. Lots of our ladies play just nine holes each week, and periodically we have a play day to include them with the 18-hole group. Some of our upcoming events are Aces Wild, Bakers Dozen and 2 Best Balls of Foursome. As you can see, we have lots of fun tournaments and offer a large variety to choose from. I hope you'll consider joining us! If you are interested, please call either me or our Membership Chair, Maureen Herzberg, at (951) 677-4717. Have a safe and happy 4th and we hope to see you on the links! Ladies Golf
