Horseshoes for Fun Calling all horseshoe players. We have started a Horseshoes for Fun Club, which will be meeting at the horseshoe pits every Wednesday at 3:30 pm. We will be playing until approximately 4:30 pm. No need to bring horseshoes. We have two sets at The Lodge and one set purchased by a private party. This is a great way to make new friends and get a little exercise in the fresh air. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Ron Erickson at (951) 846-3288, rejlerickson@sbcglobal.net or Gary Christie at (951) 9419100, goldtoy@earthlink.net. ~ Ron Erickson Bocce Ball Interest Group After a month of playing, there is still a great enthusiasm for the game. Our ranks have been steadily increasing as new players try this game. We have approximately 36 players, averaging around 12 players each session. Because of continued interest, we are applying for club status. Our first club meeting will be July 18 at 2:30 pm in the Lodge. Once again we are inviting anyone interested to try the game one Tuesdays at 9:30 am and/or Wednesdays at 3:30 pm. We may adjust the afternoon hours as the heat increases even though there is plenty of shade and benches. If you have questions please contact Bob Cooper at (951) 769-6532 or Janet Burns at (951) 922-3013. ~ Bob Cooper Firearm Enthusiasts Steve and Ron made a trip to the High Desert Rod & Gun Club meeting in May. They were very impressed by the organization of their business meeting; the club had officers for each administrative position, a training officer, NRA Certified Instructors and RSO's (Range Safety Officers). There was a discussion on starting a series of safety classes that would even be good for some of our members to attend. We found out that they had just made the final payment on the range property and were also able to purchase the property next to the range. Howard and Louise Lyon and Steve Meier attended the Norco Sport Fair on May 31, and Howard fired some firearms. The weather was great, the crowds were small and all had a good time. Firearm ownership is a very responsible process of training, safety and familiarity with your firearms. Take the opportunity to practice at least once a month to maintain your skill level and call. This is a good way to meet your fellow enthusiasts. Meetings are the first Friday of the month at 4 pm in Lodge Ballroom. Reminder: No firearms allowed on the Lodge premises. ~ Ron Morgan 4x4 Seasons It was a beautiful spring day at the California Central Coast For more information, contact Rick Brower, jamiebbad@aol. when Rick and Jamie Brower made a visit to Rich and Ann com; George Johnson, gjohnson23@dc.rr.com; Ann Williams, Williams who were camping at Pismo Beach. Rick suggested wilymz@att.net. ~ Ann Williams we a jeep ride along the beach. The Williams readily agreed and off they all went. The ride along the beach front was beautiful. It was also entertaining to see all the different four-wheel vehicles and vendors scattered over the beach front. The Williams were enjoying another new off-road adventure when the Browers made a quick left turn into the soft sand. They watched as the Browers rode merrily over the sand dunes, and they sat spinning their wheels deeper and deeper into the soft sand. The story had a happy ending as rescue Rick came and pulled the Williams out on to the good sand and the journey continued. For this and other adventures please come and join us. Our next meeting is July 9, at 7 pm in the Ballroom. SPORTS & Outdoor ACTIVITIES | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2013 41
