SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | DECEMBER 2021 5 By, Daniel Mendez, EPAC Chair Thank you to everyone who came to the table-top drill for the Great Shake Out. The Committee was excited to see such a good turn out. Edith Reed, Susan Stevens, and Dorie Theel each facilitated the event and the feedback was very positive. I don't doubt that everyone (even those who could not attend the drills on Oct. 21) will be supportive when we have a big earthquake but it is important to have a plan so we aren't running helter skelter. EPAC meets once a month, on the second Monday, to strategize how we can plan and train for various emergencies that would affect our community. There are now two open positions to fill for the next year or two. You don't have to be young or strong to help out in an emergency, but you should have some common sense. (Insert smile here). Anyone interested should fill out a Volunteer Interest Form and turn it in to the office staff. The Great Sh ake Out By Clare Mendez, Resident At a recent Neighborhood Watch meeting, we learned from Steve Day about an app called SeeClickFix. The company runs a website and app which assists users in communicating with local governments about non-emergency issues such as broken sidewalks, dumping illegal trash, homeless encampments and such. I gave it a try and it is very simple to set up for Hemet. Just put in your city and zip code and you are ready to go. You will be greeted with a "Welcome to Hemet, California" log on to verify you are set up. In my opinion, this can help us have not only a community we are proud of but improve the quality of life where we live. (I quoted much of this from their website.) You can add a photo if you want, but it isn't necessary to stop and pull out your phone to take a photo. Give it a try. You can also see what other people have posted and if it has been resolved. SeeClickFix: An App For Non-Emergency Local Issues By DiAnne Mangis, Resident The Welcome Committee welcomes all new residents to our beautiful community. We hope you love it here as much as we do and look forward to meeting you soon. Our goal is to make you feel welcome and provide you with the information you need to easily integrate into our community and the surrounding area. We would like to present you with a beautiful tote bag as our welcome gift. Please register with The Lodge as soon as possible and let them know you would like to be contacted by us. They will forward your information to us. Once we get it, someone from the Committee will contact you and arrange a meeting at your convenience. Solera Diamond Valley hosts many events and festivities during the year. They are a great way to get to know many of the residents in your new community and begin to feel part of the neighborhood. We host New Resident Mixers during the year to help you get acquainted with other new residents and become informed about the groups, clubs, committees, recreation, and other fun activities that make this such a great place to live. If you would like more information, please contact Sandra Day, Chairperson, at sandradaysmail@ gmail.com or (805) 990-4856. We are excited to have you here! Welcome Committee
