All Seasons RV I would like to begin by thanking Ann Williams, on behalf of the entire club, for performing the duties of Breeze Scribe over the past few years. Ann did an outstanding job and is a tough act to follow. 2022 has finally arrived, and with it are hopes for a happy, healthy, and much traveled new year. At the time of this writing, club members are preparing for a trip to Quartzsite, Ariz., which is described as the "RV Boon-Docking Capital Of The World." Quartzsite is located 18 miles east of the Colorado River, and was established in 1867. Although reporting a modest population of less than 3,800 residents, the town is expected to host two million visitors again this year. Hundreds upon hundreds of vendors will be selling everything from rocks and gems to motorhomes and RV supplies. There is never a shortage of treasures to be hunted, food to be eaten, and, as a bonus, the weather is almost always perfect. New and/or interested members are always welcome to join us at our monthly meetings. We meet at The Lodge on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. ~ Steve Bennett, 4stevesjunk@gmail.com 60 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2022 Finally, 2021 is over and looking forward to a much better 2022. In looking back at 2021 we lost some great competitors and friends. I remember how lucky I was the first time I beat Dewey Allen in 8-Ball. At the foot of the table, I had missed the 8 ball leaving it hanging on the edge in the corner pocket. I also left the cue ball hanging in the other corner pocket, leaving Dewey no direct shot at the 8 ball. Dewey made a three-rail shot that sunk the 8-ball, but Dewey had hit it so well, the cue ball drifted forward and followed the eight ball in, giving me the win. Dewey, thank you for being a teammate, competitor, and for the memories. We also lost Ray Windhorn — a good friend, teammate, competitor, and storyteller. When Ray was between matches, he would start telling of his experiences in Arabia and soon others would gather around listening in on one of his stories about his time in a faraway land. Thank you, Ray, for being the gentleman you are, a teammate, competitor, and for sharing your time and stories with us all. We miss you. The Four Season 8-Ball Club is in full swing, holding its two in-house tournaments each month. We normally hold an 8-Ball tournament and a 9-Ball tournament each month and in the future, once it safe to do so, we hope to again play four additional tournaments each month — two with Solera Beaumont and Solera Hemet. December saw the 8-Ball Club holding only one of its two in-house tournaments. The 9-ball tournament had seven players competing. The night ended with three players still in the running: Rick Loney, Jone Babin, and Larry Rice. The following week, the final matches were completed. The semifinal saw Jone Babin defeat Rick Loney in a three-game match. The final three-game match was between Jone Babin and Larry Rice. Larry managed to come away with the win. Congratulations to Larry Rice, this month's 9-ball champion, and to Jone Babin runner-up. The 8 Ball Club plays or practices Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from 6:30 to 9 pm. If you're new to the game or have played before, don't be shy, stop by, pick up a stick and give us a try. Walk in and ask for Del, Larry, or any of the members playing. The 8-Ball Club is always looking for new members who would like to learn and play pool to join us. There is a calendar of our events in the Billiard room on the 8-Ball Club bulletin board. If you have any questions about the 8-Ball Club, contact one of the officers: Captain Del Lyles, Sr. at (951) 845-5114, Co-Captain Larry Rice at (951) 236-1156. If no one answers, just leave a message and one of us will get back to you. ~ Larry Rice 8-Ball Club Dewey Allen Ray Windhorn
