Theatre Arts 12 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2022 | Well, our "friend," COVID, has once again reared its ugly head and thrown our whole community into a tizzy. But, as the saying goes, the show must go on. We are seeking a member to assume the very key, appointed position of Programs Coordinator, who will be tasked with finding appropriate programs to perform at our monthly meetings. Any interested party should please contact Jean Hefler (JeanHefler@ hotmail.com). Look for details on future entertainment at our monthly meetings. So far, we have confirmed to be entertained in April by the Mira Costa Dance company. We're hoping that barring COVID-19 interference, Sally Benton's Actors' Workshop will grace us in May, where her students can show off all they've learned. Auditions for this show will begin in February. Please consider joining by contacting Sally (moki2@cox.net). Classes are Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, in the Majorca Room. Join Theatre Arts so you can participate in all of our entertainment and activities. To provide for greater safety, if you are hesitant to be out in a group setting, please bring your check to the front desk for 2022 dues… $10 per person. Please make checks payable to "OH Theatre Arts." Please include the following information when you bring your check to the front desk: • Name(s) • Address • Phone Number (home or cell) • Email Address If you paid dues after Oct. 1, you are covered for 2022. If you are unsure of your status, please contact Phyllis Buvel pbuvel@cox.net. Our next Board meeting is Feb. 16 at 11 am. Check with the desk for the room assignment. Board meetings are open to all members, so please do come and join us. Check out our new and improved website, where you can read of our activities, read past OHCC Living articles, and explore future productions: http://www.ohccdg.wixsite.com/theatrearts. Choral Society The OHCC Chorale had so much fun performing in Abravanel Hall for friends and family at their recent concert, Songs of Good Cheer. We were pleased that so many came and supported us. It was the first time we've been able to perform in two years. Here are some of the highlights: • Keith Thompson dazzled us with his prowess on the congas. • As Emcee, Charles Levine presented an entertaining and informative narrative. • Susan Smith provided us with an inspiring update to her original composition… All I Want for Christmas is a Hole in One. • The Pitches performed some tight harmonies in a medley of holiday favorites. • David Haaland led the men in a musically inspired roast of the Grinch. • Janie Ahrens and Gail Burnett charmed the audience with their rendition of What Child is This. Plans are currently underway to provide our wonderful community with a rich variety of fun and inspiring songs in our next concert on May 15. We hope to see you there. If you love to make music and memories, please join us at our rehearsals every Thursday at 10:30 am in Abravanel Hall. Mark your calendar!
