Actors Studio Our "Show of Comedy Skits" is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, at 7 pm. Tickets will go on sale for both nights on Tuesday, April 5, from 10 am to noon and from 6 to 8 pm in the Annex. Tickets will also be sold on Wednesday, April 13, from 10 am to noon and from 5 to 7 pm in the Atrium in the Clubhouse for both nights. Tickets are $10 per person, payable with cash or check. We still need more actors to participate in the show and technical/artistic people. So now is the time to join us in our first, and hopefully, future shows. We are very excited about this production and hope you will share our excitement by participating in or attending an evening of our one-act plays. Additional details will be in the April issue of The Colony News; however, now is the time to "pencil in" the ticket sales and show dates. If you would like to join us, we meet in the Annex on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 3 pm. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Chuck Gordon (661) 714-3847, Alan Scharf (702) 767-3020, or Greg Hill (951) 526-9896. By Marsha Tobolski, 562-244-9223 The Colony Strummers are inviting anyone interested in having fun while learning an easy instrument to join us each Friday at 1 pm in the Annex. We play, we sing and we laugh a lot. No need to read music and we don't care about how well or badly you sing. Our music ranges from old time folk tunes to pop and rock and roll. Come check us out and sing along with us. We have a hootenanny good time! For more information, please give me a call. She is a self-taught oil painter since 1978 and has painted off and on, occasionally taking workshops to help develop her style. In addition to oil painting, Ila is ready to try her hand at watercolor painting. She is also a writer and a published poet. Aside from painting, she has many other interests. Each year she participates in The Colony Arts and Crafts Fair showing and selling her rag quilts, and she is also in the Players Theater Group. Currently, she is honing her skills as a baker of sourdough bread. While raising her six children in the 60s and 70s, she had many home sales jobs that were popular then. She presented and often modeled in Home Fashion shows, sold Tupperware, and for many years was an Avon representative. In addition to their children, she and her husband, Lynn, have 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is always busy and always learning something new. Thank you so much, Ila, for participating in Artist of the Month and for sharing your talent with your community. Artist of the Month By Sylvia Maxwell, 818-667-1766
