62 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2022 Celebrate the gorgeous month of May! The sun is warming, the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and our gardens are growing. The month of May is likely named for the Roman goddess Maia, who oversaw the growth of plants. With all of this to celebrate, it's time to come out and enjoy the outdoors. Shuffleboard is the perfect activity to join. It is easy to learn and become proficient fairly quickly. I understand that the bids to complete the surrounding areas of the four new shuffleboard courts have been submitted to the Board of Directors. I believe and hope that the Board is going to finalize their decision at the next board meeting and that the chosen contractor will start the work shortly thereafter. So I am hopeful that around the beginning of June, we will have the four new shuffleboard courts completed and available for safe play. We play every Monday and Saturday morning at 9 am for now at the existing courts at The Lodge. As the weather continues to warm up, we will be changing our starting time to 8 am to help avoid the heat of the day. Our games usually last about an hour or a little longer. We have a great group of residents who enjoy coming out to play for fun, but they are still very competitive. Everyone likes to win. We have no losers, only non-winners. We choose different teams each time that we play in order to keep the competition challenging and the games interesting. We continue to welcome new players, so our attendance continues to grow. If you haven't played before, we can help you improve your skill level in no time. If you have played before, then we can give you a quick refresher course. After your morning coffee and/or breakfast, come out and join us. Get some fresh air and a little exercise while having some fun and socializing with other Four Seasons residents. I am the publicity person for LPG taking photos for the Breeze, meeting and greeting new players, etc. I love our home here where we have lived for 12 years and have participated in many clubs. I'm looking forward to having you join us now that the weather is getting warmer. If you have an interest in joining us either on Monday at 4 pm, Friday at 9 am, or both, we would love to see you at The Courts. Typically, play time is about 45 minutes. Not only is it a gentle sport, but it's a great way to meet some new people and to challenge your hand-eye coordination. We have extra putters and balls if you would like to give it a try. I joined the LPG late last year and now I share the position of co-groundskeeper. The position involves setting up the course once a week. It's a fun group.
