FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2022 63 Hello May. As I promised, here are the results of our first quarter tournaments. We had two tournaments, Doubles and Singles on separate days. The winners of our Doubles Tournament were: First Place, Dave Thomason and Paul Plamondon and Second Place, Pete Hosterman and Dave Roldan. The winners of our Singles Tournament were: First Place, Dave Thomason, Second Place, Paul Plamondon, and Third Place, Harry Henderson. Congratulations gentlemen! See photos below. So it's back to our normal play each week in which we draw cards for partners, which is just like playing a Doubles Tournament (without the pressure) and we play until somebody says "Uncle I'm Done." Lots of fun every week, you should come out and help us enjoy this game called "Horseshoes." We meet every week on Wednesday at 9 am at the Summit. Our contacts are Ron Erickson at (951) 846- 3288, rejlerickson@sbcglobal.net or Gary Christie at (951) 845-0520, goldtoy@earthlink.net. ~ Ron Erikson Horseshoe Club TOPS Thousands of TOPS members from all over Southern California will be meeting in Ontario for our Area Recognition Days. Several members of our chapter plan to attend, May 14, at the Doubletree Hotel. At least three workshops with speakers will be held and a luncheon and dinner. The theme for the weekend is "Sparkles and Blue Jeans" so we are all looking for "bling" to jazz up our outfits. This past month we talked about GMOs and where they are found. We learned that meat does not have to label things GMO, but many vegetables and fish have not been tampered with such as papayas, potatoes, apples, pineapples, squash and salmon. The new disclosure laws have loopholes. Lean Cuisine packaging says, "contains a bioengineered food ingredient" on their non-meat dinner, but what is it? We don't know. The new rules don't cover products that list meat, poultry, or eggs as their first ingredient. So, if these foods contain a GMO ingredient, we won't know. It seems that we need to do our research to be well informed about this issue. We congratulated Pauline Smith as our Thinner Winner of the month, with Sue Hilberg a close second. You may find that a group like TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) can help you as well. We meet on Tuesday at 8:30 am in The Lodge Ballroom. For more information, call Andi Henderson at (918) 497- 6491. ~ Andi Henderson First Place Winners, Doubles - Paul Plamondon & Dave Thomason 2nd Place Winners, Doubles - Dave Roldan & Pete Hosterman Singles - First Place Dave Thomason (left), Second Place Paul Plumondon (center), Third Place Harry Henderson (right)
