| LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2022 | 7 Does your house look dull? You have two choices. Power wash your house if you like the color, or paint your house a new color. When the houses were built, the builder put the paint color in the stucco, unlike nowadays when stucco is painted a color. Power washing your house will remove the 14+ years of dirt. You will be amazed at the difference power washing can make. If you want to change the color, choose one of the 12 new color palettes available in the office. Drive the community and see the different combinations homeowners have chosen. The newly painted houses look great! When you paint your house, remember there are different qualities of paint. During inspections, DRC members have noticed streaks with the paint. This could be the paint quality used or the lack of paint layers. Better quality painters and paints do cost more. A team member in the office will assist you in choosing your color palette. If you choose to power wash your house (or not) - your doors, shutters, and window and door trim need to be painted. These features have faded and need to be refreshed. Check in the office to see the colors available. Whether you paint your entire house or only paint the doors, shutters, and wood trim, a permit is required (even when painting the same color). The application for the permit can be obtained in the office. Note: House number tiles and lights are available at Do It Best on Sixth Street in Beaumont. LED lights are available on Amazon- Weimeltoy 194 Car bulb. 1.5W. 12pcs for $8.99. Design Review Committee April of this year the Welcome Committee distributed the 28th Welcome Book for 2022. An Ad Hoc Welcome group began developing the Welcome book in 2009. January 2010, the first Welcome books were presented to new residents who had requested one. In June 2016, our Welcome group became an Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors. October 2017 was our first "Community Meeting" aka "Social Gathering." We have held a "Social Gathering each April and October since, except 2020 due to COVID. We made up for it in the summer of 2021 when we held three during August and September and then back on schedule in October. A few of our members (ambassadors) were original members. They have never lost their passion for meeting new neighbors and sharing their talent with new members of our committee. Here we are in May 2022. We just held our "Social Gathering" in April. Now it is time to focus on our Annual Meeting to count the ballots and see who our two board members will be. This meeting is not until May 18. If you have not voted yet, you still have time to complete and mail in your ballot. This election, as every election, is very important. The election rules are posted on our Solera website. It is extremely important that every household marks their ballot for two candidates, and votes on any question put to vote, which is included on the ballot, placing the ballot in the envelope. Sign the envelope where indicated, and mail in the ballot. If the ballot and signature are not properly completed, your vote will not be counted. A quorum must be met. You are encouraged to VOTE! This is your community and whether you attend all or none of the Board meetings, the members of the Board are elected by you, the members. How your assessment money is spent can depend on your vote. Thank you to our ambassadors for everything they do in making our new residents feel welcomed to our community. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee
